I got the Van Compass front spacers and had them installed today. Love it! It’s nice having a level van!
That's great! I got mine too, just waiting on struts and shocks to arrive to do it all at one time. I don't think I'm going to try to tackle the install myself, what'd it run you for yours?

I paid just under 500 for the install and alignment afterwards.
Based off the Van Compass YouTube video tutorial, it looks like a bear of a job unless you have all the good tools to install. $500 is not bad with an alignment too! (y)

Those with the VC lift, do you have anything to report on the longevity? Any issues with the CV joints, etc?

Just got back from a long trip in central Oregon area where we spent a good bit of time on forest roads hunting camp spots etc. I will admit that with careful line choice I was able to get the van everywhere I needed.. the ride quality of the van left a bit to be desired though. I am not expecting the van to act like my buddies land cruiser and just rip through all the chunder.. but if I could get over a few more of the marbles with out feeling like the front end is going to come off.. that would be great. To me it feels like the van has zero rebound damping up front or the spring rate is just too high?

The entire ride home I was thinking about the VC lift just so I could get a taller tire under the van along with some better dampers to control the madness a bit.

Any input? Reviews? I have seen VC's response on here.. I would be interested to learn more on the Fox shocks they offer for the rear. Also any advice on strut replacements up front. Koni/Bilstein etc.

Thanks!

I like my lift, we’ll worth it in my opinion, mainly because I like that my van is mostly level when I park for the night and I feel like the driving position is better as well.

As far as struts... I put Bilsteins in mine and Dad put Monroe Magnum in his. The difference is minor, but the ride in his 2500 is softer than my 3500. Both have lifts.

Has anyone ordered the VC front lift recently and can tell me how long it took to get it in? I have to replace the front struts and would like to do this at the same time but the website is saying it could be 2 - 12 weeks. I sent them a message but it says they'll respond within a week.....

The local tire shop replaced my front struts, and everything else in there while they were at it, installed the lift, replaced both front brake calipers, and replaced my rear shocks. I haven't driven it far enough yet to know what I think about it but it looks better leveled out for sure.

Did you install the fox rear shocks? I would like to hear a few more review before ordering it. My front shock is too stiff for fireroad driving but I read somewhere the b6 didn't change much compare to stock. Hope by the time I need to change out the front, fox will make a front shocks for the promaster.

I didn't. They put Bilstein front struts and Monroe rear shocks.

So, after installing the VC lift I took the van to Les Schwab to have the toe-in adjusted, per VC's suggestion. Of course, they did a complete alignment inspection and informed me that I had to "take the van back to ProMaster" because the caster and camber were off and the only way to adjust it was to move the front sub-frame. Apparently that requires unbolting the engine and supporting it a special fixture (which only the dealers have) while the adjustment is made! They also said the rear alignment is off, which they also couldn't fix. After all that they refused to adjust the toe-in (which was off) because "if we can't do the complete job we won't do any part of it". Arrrgh. I have an appointment with a different shop on Monday to get the toe adjusted. Stay tuned.

On a different note, the van now has a definite shudder on moderate acceleration between 5 & 15 mph, or so. It is a bit worse if turning while accelerating. Feels like rear tire imbalance as I can feel it in the seat, but not in the steering wheel. I got all 4 tires rebalanced, but no improvement. I fear the additional u-joint angularity from the lift is causing this, although VC claims the u-joints remain within safe working limits. I believe I've read all the posts from those who have installed the VC lift, with no mention of this issue. Anybody?
Hi, did you ever figure out shudder?
I did a lift and now I'm having problems.
