FWIW,
I don't think it's possible to do anything with out the cable, at some point you need to enter the 5 digit code to get inside and for me that moment came with the yellow cable.

IIRC I could just see the menu of some stuff, plus I really didn't know what I was looking at or what I was expecting to see. Then the cable arrived and then ta-da saw a whole lot of stuff. Once it ask for the pin I then I realized I might screw something up if I'm not careful :)

Thx Phil. Does confirm the pin situation of the magic yellow adapter from help doc as site they suggest for cable of Additional system adaptor extension cables for MultiECUScan diagnostic software

Will be curious to see what TachikazeTim gets with his 2018 when he tests without cable.

Maybe it’s read only w/o cable and update modules with cable ?
Sorry for slow reply Junky and also for the fact that I don't have any input. A recent stroke resulting in the loss of family member means I have dropped everything and it will be a while before I get going again. It's easy for me to buy "stuff" online but finding the time to actually use it is another matter. I was just starting my build and had to stop halfway through the floor installation. Whenever I finally get to the AlfaOBD I'll be sure to post, but by that time you will have probably figured everything out and become the forums' resident expert! Best of luck to you and thanks to all!:?)))

Phil, are you saying the code request for a 5-digit pin showed up after connecting the yellow cable? Is that just the vans security code (same pin as the key/rekey code) or is that some code to bypass the gateway on an 18 and newer? I kind of understood that we don't have the gateway problem on the 2018 promaster (the ram truck does), or at least that the yellow cable was all that was needed to bypass. I have a cable coming and can get the rekey security code from the dealer tomorrow. Does anybody else know more about the code?

Same code. I think I was trying to access something in Alfaobd when it asked for the code.
There are 3 codes, bring proof of ownership and get all three, Key Code / PIN - Mechanical Code - Radio Code

Yellow adapter is required to communicate (both read and write operations) with "slow" modules of the vehicle. Among "slow" modules is TPM (Tire Control), BCM (Body Control) and probably Radio. Without the Yellow cable, you can access the rest of the modules including main computer (which includes power train).

From my experience key code is required only to access/modify security related functions and those can't be used in free version of AlfaOBD.

I thought that with AlfaODB you could alter the automatic off time on the radio - but I don't see any option for that in AlfaODB. Also, I thought it was possible to change the horn-chirp on lock - is that done from the body computer?

You can change the radios automatic shut down time select body computer, Then select car configuration changes, then select switch off time, open the tab below and you should see the different times
64100

I just got the code from the dealership but still waiting for my yellow cable shipped from China. Want to change the radio time, honk when armed. Any other recommendation?

OK, that helps me know where to look. On the body computer code - as I understand that's a 5 digit code that should be the same as the rekeying code for the keys, correct? If so, what I have on my keys from the dealer is a 6 digit code - is this a case of dropping the leading digit, or ???
And if I try different body codes, can I get into any form of "too many failures" lockout?

I have only done this once on my 2017 fiat ducato and it worked so it should be the same for your PM.
As you open alfaobd and check that you are connected to your Bluetooth obd scanner I would go to the tools icon and upload log file to Google drive or view log and save it before doing any changes

1, select your vehicle make in the 1st drop down box
2, select body computer in the 2nd drop down box
3, select the control unit for your vehicle in the 3rd drop down box
4, it will then take you to code screen
Click on connect wait till its connected
5, then click on the car with the hood up. bottom right of the screen
6, click on select procedure then scroll all the way down your looking for
CAR CONFIGURATION CHANGE
7, click on car configuration change then click on options
8, scroll down till you see SWITCH-OFF TIME
9, click on switch-off time
You then select value you will see 20min
60min
180min
Select which time you want
Then click on start wait till completed a message shows up saying completed then close alfaobd
Switch off ignition wait 5 minutes before turning ignition on again.then try your radio to see if the new shut off time shows if not you might need to do proxy alignment.

I Hope all is clear and you understand the above

OK, now that I understand the steps, I was able to set the radio to 180 minutes, which is much better than 20 minutes. It didn't like the "not used" setting (which I had hoped would disable auto-turn off).

@Gasgasmick Can AlfaOBD reset the odometer?

The odo stops working at 671,000 miles becauase that’s 1 million kilometers. I’m at 512k and I need the odo to work for tax purposes). But that tool ain’t cheap.

good info
I wonder if the passenger side could be disabled for a baby car seat.
I recently inadvertently realized that you can simply turn off center passenger occupancy detection under BCM settings with the AlfaOBD app.

Woulda saved me a lot of hours on this project!

Anyone got it to work with a 2018 year?
I just got the yellow cable but can't make the connection. When it try to connect, my dash will beep and a message "Service Air Bag" will show up. Then the message will disappear after a few second. It will do the same thing without using the yellow cable on options that require yellow cable. The only connection it made was "engine" option but that doesn't require a yellow cable. I'm using a wifi OBD2 reader and it work fine with my other obd2 apps. I don't know if my yellow cable is defective or some other issue. I waited three and half month for it ship from China probably due to the Covid thing so I really don't want to order from another seller to have the same thing happen.

It works with my 2019 and I believe it should work the same with 2018.
I use MXLink2 Bluetooth adapter and I don't think I've seen reports of WiFi adapters working.

When I first tried it (without a yellow cable), "service air bags" did pop up once but I assumed it was a glitch and indeed it never came back.

The Yellow cable I use, I've got from Amazon UK and it works perfectly. NiceCheck ECU Scan OBD2 Yellow Adapter Diagnostic Cable Fit For Fiat ECUScan Multi Scan: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
(Shipping with Prime even from UK is pretty quick, around 10 days).

Ok, i just verify using my multimeter that the pins on the yellow connector is correct(pin1 to pin 6 and pin9 to pin14) using the alfaobd wire diagram. I'm guess maybe my wifi reader is creating the issue. I will see if i can get another one that is BT to test out. thanks
