This is awesome and very economical. Just read your other post about it. thanks!

Where did you mount the new back up cam?
I don’t have a photo handy but I just drilled a hole in the bottom of the black plastic factory camera housing and screwed it on there. You can hardly notice it.
I didn’t choose to spend the extra $100 or so on the Maestro unit because it wasn’t that important to me to connect it to the vaNS computer. It is wired to come on when I shift to reverse plus I put another switch to put it on anytime I wanted too.

I like that a lot. Did your van have the Blind Spot Alert feature? If yes, did you integrate it into your new system? Thanks jc
Today I completed a similar radio replacement with a Kenwood dmx1057xr on a 2021 promaster that has blind spot monitoring and rear cross path monitoring and I can confirm that when using the maestro rr2 both are being transfered to the new radio. I purchased the complete kit from crutchfield. I did the harness soldering myself, although crutchfield can do it for $25. Their website is able to give you a list of all components needed based on the year of the van.

Hi @nicknkelly

Still happy with your Kenwood dmx1057xr ?

Any issues ?

Seeing the new 2023 model with the modern dash and electronics made me look again at upgrading the cockpit as much as I could. Splurged on the Sony XAV-9500ES that has a 10” “floating” screen. Definitely overkill on the audio side with the stock speakers, but I like the integration with my phone and the vehicle computer so far! The latter requires the Maestro interface between the Sony and the van ECU. View attachment 85805

This si great!
What year of PM did you install this in? Did you have it professionally installed or did you DIY?

Interesting, because when I check with Crutchfield, they say it won't fit because of the floating screen. What year is your van? and what radio did it have from the factory?

Also, how does that Kenwood do with large USB storage devices with lots of music files? I ask because I have a Kenwood stereo in my sedan that simply cannot handle more than a few hundred files on storage. (That's one thing I give the UConnect - it handles a quarter terabyte of music with aplomb, other than the occasional many minutes long "reading media" times before it will allow interaction.)

This was in my 2021. It’s actually one of the only things I didn’t DIY - I was in a hurry before a big trip. I’ve since taken it out a few times for other upgrades, through, and it’s straightforward with the right wiring adapters and Metra trim kit…
