I had the recall done on my 2024. I was told to expect 1 hour of work. But when I took it in they insisted I'd have to leave it all day. About 1.5 hours later they called and said it was ready. My FCW now stays off permanently and never has before. So maybe that setting now works. Or the FCW is now broke. I know it happened the day of the service because it was on when I dropped it off and off when I picked it up per the dashboard indicator.

Backup camera appears to work the same.

If the solution is a software update, why can’t I do it over the air.

I wonder if the dealer uploads the latest version but the version really doesn’t have a fix for the camera. Stellantis does this to satisfy NTSB. That’s why the 2025 has this recall but the original recall was issued many years ago.

It's 2 different recalls. Same general problem (camera doesn't work) but a different fix. The 2019-2021 recall states the camera itself goes dead and must be replaced; the 2022-2025 recall is a software update to the security gateway.

Recalls are hugely expensive; I am sure they are reasonably confident of the fix before paying tens of millions of dollars to roll it out.

I've had my 2023 brought in for the rear camera recall twice now. Worked fine until after I brought it in the first time. (about a year and a half ago). Brought it back in for this current recall and it still has the problem of occasionally going black when in reverse. Not often, and when it does, I just stop and take it out of reverse then back into again.

This most recent recall (59C) just showed up in my Ram Promaster Online Garage:

Incomplete
Recall Date
August 26, 2025
FCA Recall #
59C
NHTSA Recall #
25V-552

Safety Defect/Non Compliance Description and Safety Risk
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 571.111 S6.2.6 requires that "The rear visibility system default to the rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS No. 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected..." Suspect vehicles may not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions. A rearview image that is blank/black/blue or inverted reduces the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle. A blank/black/blue or inverted screen will appear in place of the rearview image. If the driver does not heed the blank/black/blue or inverted screen warning and fails to otherwise make sure it is safe to operate the vehicle in reverse, a vehicle crash can occur.
Repair Description
FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall for all affected vehicles to replace the rearview camera.

Yes, just got mine yesterday as well for our 2021. It's working fine for now, so I guess it's just as well they don't have the parts (and probably won't for years :D )

I guess it's not just Stalantis with these problems - my wife's Honda HRV had a recall over a year ago for a fuel pump and they still don't have those. (car's running fine but I have this in the back of mind when taking that car on trips away from home)
