I keep finding these rubbery like particles in my driveway where my Promaster 2500 EcoDiesel is parked, as pictured below. They are very lightweight.

I originally thought that some critter was chewing pieces off of my spare tire, but all looks good. Thought maybe from a belt, but I can barely even see the belts to inspect and would imagine that they would have totally failed if they were in this condition.

Any ideas as to where on the Promaster this crud might be originating. One pictured piece has a 2 on it; perhaps a clue?

I have never seen that material on or under my diesel. You may have a animal bringing something from nearby to build a comfy home in your air intake (a likely place) or above the exhaust heat shroud or elsewhere. I have had pack-rats strip a bit of the sound deadener from the hood but that is easily seen and from the firewall deadener that is a bit harder to notice unless you have a flashlight.

Thanks for the link. Not sure if that's my issue, but I have a history of such. When living in WA State, I removed 2 mice out of my wife's Suzuki Grand Vitara blower unit at 2 different times. Interesting noise when the fan was turned on. I had to disinfect the cabin air system. Lost some insulation in the firewall in that same vehicle when we were in NM.

I had a Chevy Astrovan that was attacked by Grey Digger squirrels while in WA. They loved to chew on the wiring. In fact they chewed through wiring and prevented my van from starting. Had to buy a new component because they chewed the wiring such that it could not be spliced.

The next day, they had chewed through the same wire and, again, I couldn't start. Fortunately they left a little so that I could repair the wire.

This happened several times over the next week until I became desperate and stripped the wired off of an extension cord, place it by the wire in the van, and plugged it into a gfci outlet. I know stupid, but I needed my van to get to work and was at a loss.

The next morning the gfci outlet was tripped but the wire was good. Repeated that process for a couple days until the little rascals started taking insulation from the firewall and placing it on the wires!!!!!

After calling a pest control guy who first trapped and then used bait, with little difference in outcome, I went to the feed store figuring that the farmers would know how to resolve this issue.

After purchasing the recommended chemical warfare materials, I placed it in their holes and woke up the next day to zero squirrels. It was eerily amazing. Van was fine thereafter and my wooden deck, with many tooth marks, also probably lasted a lot longer.

I hate rodents too!!

The Ford guy down the street is having fun with you and throwing shredded tires under your van. To many check marks on the rubber to be from the PM.

Rats building a nest somewhere in your van? And the Ford guy down the street is now missing a tire! ;-)

That looks like pieces of a very old tire. Not something that's likely to be on a road worthy vehicle. Do you happen to have any landscaped areas around your driveway? It might even be pieces of tire that made their way into the shredder and ended up in the mulch.

Neighbors have some landscaping. It's very light, so it could be blowing my direction like everything else! My thought was tires too, but strange that I only found it in my driveway.

I'm feeling a bit better that it's probably just something that the cat dragged in.
Can't imagine that this would be a one off for my Promaster.

Appreciate your feedback.
