Same boat. I held out hope for a 2019 x290 is the US too, but, since Fiat is already testing the replacement for the x290, it looks like we will ride out this x250 version, skipping the x290 entirely.
Unless Ram is working on the update simultaneously with Fiat, which seems unlikely, hard to see how it would less than another 4 years before we could see anything new. We live in a backwater.

I think it's as simple as "why bother", it's marketed as a commercial product. The only chance for an upgrade would be if the RV industry pushed them to change it.

 

It’s a not a mystery. The gas engine didn’t fit the 4th gen. The 5th gen is coming model year 2021.

There is an FCA pdf showing no change for the PM in 2022.

"On the commercial van side, FCA will bring a new version of the Ram ProMaster City, its small commercial van, by 2022, but will leave the current larger ProMaster commercial van, without a significant update" Manley said.

 

Ya I just read that product planning pdf the other day showing nothing planned even into 2022 for promaster. So what I gather from that is if your lucky maybe in 2023 you’d see some changes.

2022 model year. Which should mean in 2021, it lands on dealer lots. Great time for me to get a deal on the old van!

 

I’m going out on a limb here and say the NA van will get a “Ram” face not the Ducato 290 facelift nor the next Ducato face. FCA’s success with new-look Ram pickups will make bringing the van into the style fold a sales advantage. I’m keeping the Ducato.

I'm with phil in the "why bother?" mindset.....

Don't figure it's as easy as just bolting on all the new stuff. North America has a unique headlight, so they'd have to tool up for that (probably $1M in tooling right there), as well as probably do crash testing, etc. ....All for a commercial vehicle that was brand new to us in 2014 (Only in Europe has it been around since 2006), so hardly in NEED of a significant update.

It sucks for us, though, since I really like the look of the new front end better.

 

I don’t see the big deal. I’m just thankful they haven’t messed around with the body so that we have more than 10 years' consistency—rare, maybe unprecedented? in the motor vehicle world. It feels good to know that if my 2014 gets smushed, anything I’ve made for it that isn’t also smushed will fit right into a brand new one.

 

I’m just hoping I can get a 2019 grille for my PM. I despise the “Dodge” 4 segment ugly grille that’s from the 80’s that has never been changed. Maybe earlier than that. I like the “RAM” grille better that’s on the 19’s.

Just wait a little bit, bobojay. I bet there will be some people who feel the opposite way, so you could negotiate an even trade.

IMHO, the 2019 grille looks pretty obnoxious with the HUGE "RAM." But I get it that for brand identity, they need to be consistent with the other products. I guess they felt the cross-hairs grille had run its course.

i will take more pictures, its my work van so i don't pay much attention to it. I have not done the swap myself so i cannot tell much about it how hard was it and what exactly was needed. Like its mentioned in the post you qouted, stock air box filter does not fit under the hood.
