parking heater thru-floor installation

I got a mounting plate with my diesel Espar but as the van’s floor was metal anyway I just put holes in the floor with the intake and exhaust on the top of a rib and bolted it down. I’d do that again. I am pretty sure I can locate the plate if anyone wants it.

I punched the holes matching the plate they sent me and attached the heater to the top of a rib behind the drivers seat where I could access it near the muffler on my diesel. No need for any large hole this way. The gasket sent with the heater seals everything nicely too. I didn’t want a large hole!

I hear you. Mine ended up under a raised section of the final floor. I did insulate around the heater after the fact. If you have combustibles nearby leave plenty of room and air circulation below as that exhaust gets hot enough to glow dull red when seen in the dark for a bit of the pipe!

My Esper lists .02-.07 Gallons per hour or .10-.28 Liters per hour. Mine runs on high for about 20 minutes to get to temperature when the ambient is 32º and then drops to lower until in an hour it is at the low. I’d guess 5 Liters would get you about 5 nights at that temperature. Carrying an extra gallon of diesel would extend that 4-5 more days. I have a diesel van so my experience is limited on that score.
