Vevor 20 amp Battery Charger - unit failure and warranty not supported

On March 18, 2024 I purchased a Vevor 20amp smart battery charger through Amazon for $51.99. Before I bought it I downloaded the manual for the unit and read it to see if it would satisfy my needs and noticed on page 15 that Vevor states that the unit is backed by a "3 YEAR HASSLE-FREE WARRANTY". Based on what I found in the manual and their statement of warranty I purchased the unit. Attached is a copy of that manual so you can see the warranty statement yourself.

Initially the screen was a bit difficult to read as the coloring of letters and the status of things was in a darker bright blue against a black background but I could read it and all of the specs seemed good to me so I kept it. I set it up to charge the house LifePo4 battery when attached to shore power and it worked quite well. Here is a link to the unit.

Over time the blue became less bright and impossible to read in any light so I wrote Vevor's customer service group and told them of the problem. They had me send them pictures showing the screen and then they said very nicely that the unit came with a 1 year warranty and since my unit is over a year old that there was nothing they could do to help me. I replied that the unit came with a 3 year warranty and sent them a pdf of their manual stating that. They said that was a mistake and the unit was only warranted for 1 year. We went back and forth over this issue multiple times and they never budged on their position. From my point of view, if their manual had the error in it and I bought the unit with the understanding that it had a 3 year warranty, then they should stand behind it. They did say they were going to correct the text in the manual but even that has not been done as of today.

I told vevor that I had purchased several items from them including a 5kw diesel heater and that I was sure the RV crowd purchases a large portion of their products and due to this betrayal, I felt obligated to notify all in the Promaster group and Amazon customers reading customer reviews of this product so that future potential customers would not make the same mistake.

Consider yourself warned. You cannot count on Vevor to honor their warranty. Since this happened I have bought a NOCO charger and will not be trusting any Vevor products in the future.

Happy camping!

Thanks for the info. A more realistic price point for a charger in that power range is ~ US$250 - 300. Probably even more than that soon.

There are some new chargers expected to be released this year ( 2025 ), but expect them to be in the same price point range.

I am not sure if a display problem is considered a "failure" or not TBH, it it still charges when you plug it in, but I understand your concerns.

When you buy products made in China, more or less, there is no warranty. That is one of the reasons why they are inexpensive.

As I said, I bought a NOCO to replace it. And a failure of the screen is definitely a failure when you have no idea whether the charger is using sla, Lithium, LifePo4 or if it is trying to desulphate your battery or charge it. What I objected to is them saying in print that there was a "Three Year Hassle Free Warranty" and not standing behind it. And for goodness sakes, it was only 13 months old. Between the two you would think they would have sent me a replacement. Maybe they are just being pissy because our president is messing with them.
