I found some thick neoprene at the fabric store and am considering using it on the metal pillars in the van. It is close to 1/4” thick, is 4 way stretch, and is better quality then the trunk liner my fabric store carries. I would use sill gasket underneath. My first choice would be Allsport 4 way stretch marine vinyl but the cost to Alaska almost doubles when I add shipping. I’m willing to pay it, but wasn’t really wanting too, if I can find a good solution locally. I also looked at the rug from HD that several people have used but was hoping for stretch thinking it would make for a better installation on my part. I also can’t get the 7 1/2” sill gasket locally so was considering trying to piece the 5 1/2”. HD has some packing foam but it’s only 1/8” thick so I’d have to use two layers. I’m sure I’m overthinking this, but I’d love to do it right the first time. I’ve gotten some great advice on this forum, thank you in advance.

Cautionary Tale : I found that the four-way stretch vinyl I used was almost impossible to glue using contact cement. Both 3M 90 and Weldwood contact cement would initially grip a little bit but then the plasticizer inside the vinyl would deactivate the glue and it would all come apart. Very frustrating. I was able to find a couple of obscure web references that had the same problem.
