Thanks for posting this. I had seen this mod somewhere else a few years ago, and then when I went to try it myself, I couldn't find it anywhere. Did you remove the functionality of the preexisting door handle, or does this add an additional cable so that either one can be used?

 

Yes this eliminates rear door handle.
In my set up I could never reach it due to bed frame and wall partition.
If you wanted to put back nothing is damaged to return to factory configuration except the small hole in access cover.
Such a simple modification gives piece of mind that second egress is available in an emergency.

 

Has anyone figured out how to also release the driver side (left) rear door via cable?
My van has a wheelchair ramp in back which blocks both rear handles. I can't even look at the mechanism with the doors closed, because the ramp must fold up before the doors can close.
