I'm looking for a roof rack to support an awning and mount some solar to without drilling more holes in the roof of my 159" high roof. I found some cheap options, but am a bit surprised not to find much on these items on the forum, so wondering if anyone has thoughts or good alternatives:
For roof rack, I'm between this AA 4 bar rack for $360 shipped from amazon and the widest universal roof basket I can find (there's a ton for under $200 shipped)

Or the topper from american van, which is $376 plus $150 shipping and from some research will require additional mounts, but I'm a bit concerned the non adjustable cross bars will impede my maxxfan install.
For the awning I'm looking at the ARB 2500 awning that is also $300, but it seems a bit cumbersome to get on/off the high roof but it should attach easily to the cheap AA van rack.
Anyone have experience with any of these options or alternative suggestions? I would do just a basic pole and tarp set up for the awning but want protection that covers the full side door.'
Also, wondering for those with racks how much affect it had on gas mileage?
