Power steering fluid replacement

Well that’s a good question, and I wish I asked myself that more seriously before I got started. Anyway, the steering was making a little noise at the extremes. Nothing much, and I thought refreshing the fluid might help. Any ideas about how to bleed the air out?
Assuming you drained and filled the correct reservoir?

It has to come out from somewhere, the air, so maybe try removing the reservoir cap when at idle? It sounds like there may be fluid cavitation occurring, and perhaps its just bad luck that happened to you, when normally it should have worked out in a matter of a minute or two.. keep an eye on fluid level for sure to keep pump healthy.

We may have to rub the magic lamp, but let's not bother him yet; he's likely busy or making music videos featuring his shop cat.

Follow-up: My mechanic used a vacuum to remove any remaining air. He did it once, then let the van sit overnight, then repeated. He got some bubbles out, level dropped, so it looks like the fix worked. Steering seems back to normal!

Note to self: do not change pm steering fluid that's performing its job.
when not broken don't fix..
