DC-to-DC charging vs 220A alternator - question ...

What I did was to set the DC-DC charger to only come on at 13.6V - that way if the chassis battery is low, 100% of the alternator power (minus normal loads) can go to the chassis battery. Once the system is over 13.6V, then the DC-DC cuts in to charge the house batteries (and if the demand is too high, e.g. idling, then the voltage will drop below 13.6V and the DC-DC converter will shut back down).
