I find this encouraging. I didn't realize there was separate trailer tow module but have long felt the issue was in whatever is used to detect trailer wiring as the system intentionally shuts down when trailer BRAKE LIGHTS are detected and the unintentional shut down is also BRAKE LIGHT related.

I will gladly accept a new module if it is going to put an end to the misbehaving but I would much prefer they simply reprogram the system to NEVER turn itself off, We should be able to control that manually ourselves if needed.

I offered to help engineering with a design review of Blind Spot Warning feature but RamCares tells me engineers:p are not allowed to talk to customers...

I feel like I just took a big leap backwards with this issue, not happy :(

I was contacted via PM by Ram Cares and was informed that a case was being opened for me in an effort to find a resolution. Eventually I was contacted via telephone by the case manager to inform me that the case was being CLOSED! The case manager contacted my selling/servicing dealer and was told that the issue did not arise while the vehicle was in their care so therefore the issue doesn't exist, case closed. WTF!

How do we get corporate to acknowledge this issue and not just ignore us one at a time?

Is it time to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration? Selling us a safety system that randomly turns itself off certainly deserves more attention than we are receiving.

Thanks for caring Sarah, But there are about 20 people on here with the EXACT same defective problem, and you only respond to one person????

I posted above that a new radio solved the problem. We are out on the road now on our first big trip and sadly, the blind spot disabled warning is back. Would the person who said their brake light module was the problem please post an update?

It has been over three weeks (about 250 miles) with no problems.
Dealer said that when the vehicle control computer (located in the radio) looses contact with a blind spot sensor, it automatically disables the blind spot detection system. The two blind spot sensors plug in to the trailer control module located on the top rear of the van. Unfortunately, there is no error code to recorded when or how this happens so the technician is left to guess where the problem is. It could be a bad sensor, bad trailer toe module, bad wiring or bad vehicle control computer. The dealer happened to have a trailer toe module in stock and gave it a try. So far it appears to be a good guess because I have usually had problems by now, but time will tell.

Hi @mpz

I do not have such fancy equipment on my van, but your posts here relaying information could very well help another Member suffering similar issues.

It sounds like you lucked out with a decent “tech / dealer”. I believe Members do a great service to “The Forum” by posting descriptive reports & outcomes.

Hope this has fixed your issue !!

I heard from Ram Customer Care today. The person I spoke with was familiar with the blind spot warning problem. They said the problem is in the trailer tow module. They know how to reproduce the problem and they promised to work with the dealer's service manager prior to my upcoming appointment. I am hopeful once again.

After 3 nights at the RAM dealer, we got our 2021 Roadtrek Zion Slumber back.

**Blind Spot Disabled FIXED
**Flashing Odometer FIXED
**Emergency Brake Warning Light FIXED

Here is a photo of the RAM report explaining RAM's findings and fix for the Blind Spot Disabled message error. (RBSM = RAM Blind Spot Module)

The issue was caused by Roadtrek when they outfitted the Promaster 3500 van at the factory. During the rear bumper assembly, they must have smashed the wiring and shorted one of the rear Blind Spot Sensor modules.

I shared my BSD issue last fall. The dealer replaced the trailer tow module but the van had little use in our cold Virginia winter. I've now driven it on 3 > 250 mi trips with no problem. I believe that the replacement of the trailer tow module did the trick. This includes extensive driving with a hitch mounted bike rack which drives the backup sensor crazy but has caused no issue with BSD.

Glad to hear that. I have always known the failure on my system required warm temperature and application of brakes.
No issues all Winter, but twice this week on warm days. Hoping my dealer accepts the tow module info when I take it back.

Yesterday was sunny and 70's so I hope it was a good test. It would pretty much match the weather last fall when it happened regularly.

21 ProMaster Motorhome…blind spot monitor disabled issue. My experience heat and braking are symptoms. Replaced trailer module… AKA light module…part number 68379832AA … no effect on issue. After 6 visits to dealer… RAM CARES and Dealer now point finger at Thor/Jayco. Jayco is their customer too, How appropriate it would be for Ram to reach out to Thor/Jayco to assist their mutual customer.
