The radio on my van was just replaced because my Blindspot detection wasn’t working. It’s now telling me that it is disabled. Does anyone know how to enable it?

Please advise once you've had your appointment. I have a 2021 PM and the Blind Spot Alert keeps getting disabled for no apparent reason. I just drove 4 miles to home and it switched off 4 times.
Thanks!

We had to postpone our warranty service appointment twice. We just got the van back. They said they were able to reproduce the problem and that they had reloaded all of the uconnect software which resets each piece of the electronic network. They told us if this didn't fix it then they'd have to replace the radio and they said at the moment parts like that are simply unavailable (presumably due to all of the supply chain problems everywhere).

It didn't fix the problem or change it in the slightest. So our blind spot alert disables itself frequently and it is quite annoying. If anyone has heard of a solution for this problem please post it.

Monitoring your thread as I have a 2021 PM. No blind spot alert issue other than my RV upfitter replaced the radio and the replacement does not have ability to access several control features including blind spot. I see that many have a 2021 PM so I want to ask a non-related question. Has anyone had experience with the new Crosswind assist feature that is supposed to be standard on the 2021? I have not seen if activate even in windy crosswinds and around big trucks on the highway. Looking for others who might share if it works for them. Thx

PLEASE please please take it to your dealership and have them report it. There are a number of us with the problem, and I have reported it at my deal and they have notified Dodge/Chrysler but nothing will be fixed unless they get a lot of people with problems. WE all need to join together to get this recalled and/or repaired. Thank you! -J

The Upfitting guide for enabling rear speakers takes you into engineering mode. Relevant pages are below. I have not had my van since I learned this. So, I cannot say what other things one can do there til it is returned in a few days.

It is just another chicken dance to get to obfuscated screens.

My investigations into 'Engineering Mode' didnt get me far on my goal. I got in, and was able to tinker with things. Since I don't want the annoying thing for more than a rearview monitor I hadn't connected other things like bluetooth or such. For my desire (separating uconnect spyware from its antenna) I will probably need to get the box out and manually disconnect it.

Hello all. I have this same issue on an RV built on the 2021 Promaster. I think I have narrowed it down to turning off when I hit the brake, but only at certain times. It may be when I'm under 50 MPH. I leave the activation screen open when driving so I can enable it again quickly. Sometimes when I push the brake, it shuts off and the controls for enabling it are greyed out until I lift off the brake again. I'm waiting until RAM acknowledges the problem before I take it in.

Hello all as well.... I too have an issue with the blind spot detection shutting off sporadically. I have noticed that I am breaking when it happens, light or hard, it doesn't seem to matter. I've had it in to the dealer 3 times now but they keep telling me they cannot recreate the issue when they have it so there's no problem!? I have showed them videos I took of it happening (message scrolling on dash screen reading " blind spot detection disabled") and even brought it in twice when it happened to me and was still shut down to have them run a code check in real time but it didn't show any error codes, the mechanic acknowledged he could see it was disabled but at the end of the day they just shrug their shoulders, they honestly seem disinterested. For me this is much more than just a frustration, it's a safety issue. If I start to rely on the blind spot detection and it shuts down and I don't notice it shut off and hit somebody in my blind spot, or even more scary hit someone on a motorcycle... well, I don't have to elaborate....

Ditto, 2021 same symptoms and dealer failed to replicate, said there are no service bulletins.

I have a theory it is related to the programming which shuts off the system when pulling a trailer. Does everyone affected have trailer wiring? Even if not, it is suspicious that there are sensors to purposely turn off the system.

I took my 2021 Promaster to the Ram dealer today and they were able to duplicate the Blind Spot Alert Disabled notice, but they have no solution. They said they will send the issue to Chrysler and get back to me for next actions. I printed this all of this forum's comments for reference and believe it helped support my claim.

I also have a 2021 that shuts off the blind spot detection on most every trip. Several 30-45 minute trips where the BSD shuts down when I reenter traffic from the store I visited. At the dealer today. Interestingly, the blind spot detection was turned off when I originally picked up the Promaster. It reported the alert on the first trip with it turned on.

We all need a resolution to this and thus far I have failed to see recognition or acknowledgement of the problem on a dealer or corporate level. This is foremost a safety issue, but also an annoyance being an extra cost option that simply fails to do its only job.

It is my firm belief that it could be resolved with a simple change in programming. The system is designed to turn off automatically on first application of the brake lights WHEN a trailer is connected. The intermittent issue only arises when the brakes are applied as can be proven by the fact that it can not be turned back on if you do not remove your foot from the brake pedal during during that initial triggering event.

REPROGRAM TO TURN THE AUTO DISABLE FEATURE OFF! First off, the blind spot monitor is MOST important when we are trailering on the highway and why I chose this extra cost option on my build. IF we find it to be a nuisance will still have the ability to decide for ourselves to turn it off.

Please prove to me that Ram really does care.

Bumping this thread because still no update.

This "safety feature" is forcing me to take my eyes off the road while constantly needing to turn it back on :(

Does anyone have access to a friendly and knowledgeable Promaster mechanic? Maybe the dealer tool can disable the "off when trailering mode"?

One thing I have noticed is checking my mirrors when I first start the engine. If the indicators don’t light up upon start then i go into the safety menu and activate the bsd. Still shouldn’t have to do this. Quite frankly, at this point, I’d rather not have the feature at all because it gives me false confidence. I hope RAM addresses this issue quickly. And I agree I think it’s probably a simple software update.
