Just an opinion.

OAT antifreeze is long life, 10yr or 150k miles
The old style green stuff, something like 2yrs or 25k miles.
Just don't mix stuff.
I've only replaced antifreeze when a hose broke.
Same with brake fluid, I've never drained and replaced that either.

Since I only need to top off once in a while, I have Mopar coolant for the van, Nissan coolant for the Nissan, and green stuff for the old Honda CRV.

Someone who makes a living from their van may have a different story.

It was explained to me once that with different/newer materials and alloys for engine blocks, heads, gaskets, etc, new coolants/antifreezes are formulated for the specific materials they will be in contact with, to prevent breakdown and corrosion.
That was a good enough explanation for me.
So, I use the products that the manufacturer says to use with their stuff.
It may not seem like it to most people because vehicles are imperfect and they are natural fixture in our environment, so we take them for granted.
But, there's a lot of science that goes into every aspect by the engineers and I promise you, it's above most of our pay grades. So, do yourself a favor and listen to all the little stickers the engineers stick on everything before they send them off.

:)
Not to argue, but when was the last time anyone had an engine failure because they used a different type of coolant? I'm not talking about mixing two different types.

This engine may or may not get the Pentastar tick, coolant smells, cylinder misfire, broken engine mounts, rusty intake bolts, cryptic fuse panel labeling, cowling that leaks and a leaking oil cooler all designed by people above my paygrade.

If you are topping off stick with Mopar 10yr/150k.
If you're replacing, get it all out and use whatever you want, just don't mix.

Of course do your own research.

Actually Phil, it kinda is to argue.
But that's fine. I see it as a good thing and don't get bent outta shape if people disagree with me (even though I'm always right and never make mistakes).
Conversations like these get the fingers clicking and get people to get off their butt and look into things and a side effect of that is people learning things they didn't know before. They shouldn't just go by a conversation between 2 people on a chat board.
I'm going to research it a bit more and may find that you are correct and you can use any coolant you want in any engine you want,....as long as you don't mix 2 kinds.
Although, I believe that is incorrect.
I may be wrong, but that has has never happened before.
I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

I was on the road and noticed that my coolant was just below the "Min" line - of course I had it serviced at the local dealer before setting off on my trip, but that's another story that also involves lower than spec tire pressures setting off the TPMS indicator.

Anyway, from reading the forum and consulting the owners manual, it was clear that I had to get OAT coolant. Zerex makes it 50/50 pre-diluted with de-ionized water, labeled for Chrysler 2013-present vehicles. I would have preferred Mopar but O'Reilly didn't have it and I was on a schedule, so I used it. I think I'm OK but I'll talk with the dealer when I take it back in.

It meets ms-12106, but it's 5yr/150k, where as Mopar is 10yr/150k, I'm guessing you'll be fine.

Just to add confusion, MS-12016 and MS-90032, both are used in the owners manual, but you can't find MS-90032 on any containers, yet.

Maybe this will stop the smell,

No but the correct antifreeze is only about $22 a gallon for 100% mix at the dealer why fool around with the wrong stuff to save $4 or $5?
I have paid between $17 and $40 per gallon for the "right stuff". Unfortunately, my vehicle has left at least $65 of fluid on the ground in ~8 western states. So.... as a result I like the $17 price when I can find it. Currently at ~24k I am looking for a new leak or cause for the disappearing coolant. The ABQ dealer I used repaired a thermostat at ~12k miles.
