I love this app! The developer added TPMS thresholds for the Promaster after I requested it plus I changed the settings below:
Fog lights stay on with high beams (great for fire roads at night)
Deactivated bulb out warning for reverse lights (allows me to use bright LEDs)
Turned off DRLs after I installed Fiat Ducato headlights W/O DRLs
Extended timeout to 40 minutes for the radio after the key's turned-off
Added horn honk when arming/disarming but then turned it off again after I realized it's not cool when I come home late.

@KilWerBzz
Could tell us which OBD adapter do you use with the app?
Is it OBDLink MX or MX+? Where did you buy it?

I was planning to aquire the adapter and the app for some time now but reviews of the adapter mention frequent malfunctioning.
What do you think after actually using it?

P. S.
Also I wonder if the following parameters are available for PM:
1. MAF sensor (to calculate volumetric efficiency)
2. How accurate are MPG or/and fuel consumption
3. Can the app access transmission data (temperature and current gear in particular)

Thanks.

Any cheap elm235 should work in demo. I have an old obdlink mx wifi bought on kick starter.
1. Didn't look.
2. Don't know I use the truck readout short trem (i've never run out of fuel and drive to empty) and pencil and paper long term.
3. Transmission data is listed but I didn't need to access it.

Got my yellow adapter in today. Started poking around the Body Control Module with the demo version, not sure if the demo allows you to modify anything. Lot's of stuff, not brave enough to change anything now still browsing.

Hi Phil, My OBDLink MX is on it's way and I've downloaded the AlfaOBD app onto my phone, but your post makes me wonder if I will also need the "yellow adapter" you mention. I didn't see anything about it on AlfaOBD's site or in any of the other posts. I've got a 2018 Promaster. Can you enlighten me? Thanks a bunch! Tim

@TachikazeTim
I wasn't able to look at much without the yellow adapter, once I installed it I had more access.

Haven't played with it for awhile, I need to more everything over to an unused phone and document my steps so I don't screw anything up.

This is great info here. Wondering if anyone with the adapter can confirm what pins it is changing or crossing over. Seems the popular “yellow” adapter is out of stock. Any ideas in alternatives ?

Did find this option
Scan Adapter OBD2 Connector Diagnostic Cable For Fiat ECU MultiECUScan FiatECU Fiat Alfa Romeo Lancia - Newegg.com

if this is correct the yellow adapter pin swap is
obd 6 -1 car
obd 14 - 9 car
obd 7 - 12 car

none of that looks to be and actual SGM bypass as discussed needed for 2018+ FCA vehicles.

To those who have used this, does the yellow adapter allow you to update values in a 2018+ or only in 2017 and under ?

I see the truck and jeep owners are tapping into CAN high & low deeper under the dash before the SGM module but maybe both are available on promaster obd-2 ports ?

Got my 3 cable set from Aliexpress in mid March, IIRC $10, not sure about shipping times now.

I give you this, but you're on your own :), out of my league messing with the OBD.

Thx Phil. Does confirm the pin situation of the magic yellow adapter from help doc as site they suggest for cable of Additional system adaptor extension cables for MultiECUScan diagnostic software

Will be curious to see what TachikazeTim gets with his 2018 when he tests without cable.

Maybe it’s read only w/o cable and update modules with cable ?
Sorry for slow reply Junky and also for the fact that I don't have any input. A recent stroke resulting in the loss of family member means I have dropped everything and it will be a while before I get going again. It's easy for me to buy "stuff" online but finding the time to actually use it is another matter. I was just starting my build and had to stop halfway through the floor installation. Whenever I finally get to the AlfaOBD I'll be sure to post, but by that time you will have probably figured everything out and become the forums' resident expert! Best of luck to you and thanks to all!:?)))

FWIW,
I don't think it's possible to do anything with out the cable, at some point you need to enter the 5 digit code to get inside and for me that moment came with the yellow cable.

IIRC I could just see the menu of some stuff, plus I really didn't know what I was looking at or what I was expecting to see. Then the cable arrived and then ta-da saw a whole lot of stuff. Once it ask for the pin I then I realized I might screw something up if I'm not careful :)

#23 ·
Phil, are you saying the code request for a 5-digit pin showed up after connecting the yellow cable? Is that just the vans security code (same pin as the key/rekey code) or is that some code to bypass the gateway on an 18 and newer? I kind of understood that we don't have the gateway problem on the 2018 promaster (the ram truck does), or at least that the yellow cable was all that was needed to bypass. I have a cable coming and can get the rekey security code from the dealer tomorrow. Does anybody else know more about the code?

Yellow adapter is required to communicate (both read and write operations) with "slow" modules of the vehicle. Among "slow" modules is TPM (Tire Control), BCM (Body Control) and probably Radio. Without the Yellow cable, you can access the rest of the modules including main computer (which includes power train).

From my experience key code is required only to access/modify security related functions and those can't be used in free version of AlfaOBD.

I have only done this once on my 2017 fiat ducato and it worked so it should be the same for your PM.
As you open alfaobd and check that you are connected to your Bluetooth obd scanner I would go to the tools icon and upload log file to Google drive or view log and save it before doing any changes

1, select your vehicle make in the 1st drop down box
2, select body computer in the 2nd drop down box
3, select the control unit for your vehicle in the 3rd drop down box
4, it will then take you to code screen
Click on connect wait till its connected
5, then click on the car with the hood up. bottom right of the screen
6, click on select procedure then scroll all the way down your looking for
CAR CONFIGURATION CHANGE
7, click on car configuration change then click on options
8, scroll down till you see SWITCH-OFF TIME
9, click on switch-off time
You then select value you will see 20min
60min
180min
Select which time you want
Then click on start wait till completed a message shows up saying completed then close alfaobd
Switch off ignition wait 5 minutes before turning ignition on again.then try your radio to see if the new shut off time shows if not you might need to do proxy alignment.

I Hope all is clear and you understand the above

... try your radio to see if the new shut off time shows if not you might need to do proxy alignment.
I went back and reread the instructions and noticed this near the end this time. I found the proxy alignemnt and after that the second button on the radio screen now reads 180 minutes and I have verified it stays on on for at least 50 minutes.

@Gasgasmick Can AlfaOBD reset the odometer?

The odo stops working at 671,000 miles becauase that’s 1 million kilometers. I’m at 512k and I need the odo to work for tax purposes). But that tool ain’t cheap.
