has anyone tried to connect 6awg wire to the post on the battery box. I am hoping to connect a B2B charger to it at the site where the upfitter connection is currently. I plan to just disconnect the upfitter wire and replace with the 6 gauge wire that I ran from the back. unfortunately, all the wire lugs that I have do not fit in the small slot on the battery distribution box.
I am curious if anyone has encountered this and how they made it work.

from what i can tell the dimensions are 10mm wide/ about 0.3" and the terminal post is 1/4".
seems that most lugs are ~0.4", so a standard lug for 6g wire is slightly too big

Thanks

I added a picture if it helps explain where I am referring

In general, if I can't find the size of lug I need, I grab some type K copper tubing, nearest size to the wire. Crimp it on the wire, hammer the end flat. Drill the hole I need. If it doesn't fit between spacers, file off the excess and solder the edges so it stays together.

Type K is thick copper and probably unnecessary. Use what you have.

Thanks @Stormin Norman. It might be helpful to the “OP” if you post your photo(s) here. It is always good to see different techniques or ideas in DIY Van Building.

Ya the #1AWG might seem excessive, but I had 2 design criteria targets;

1) Amps
2) Critical Load “Voltage Drop” (I wanted extremely low voltage drop).

I can go into detail if you want, but later I changed my direct charge AGM system to a Kisae 1250 DC2DC.
