Hey there, I seen a similar post, but I have a 2016 1500 promaster.
I'm trying to install an aftermarket radio.
I thought I would just need a harness adapter, maybe I do?
I took it a stereo shop and they told me apart from the harness adapter, I would need to wire in power so that the radio will turn on when the ignition is started.
I'm pretty handy at wiring stuff, so can anyone shed some light?
I guess the smaller harness is for communication and they said we don't have to hook that up?
I guess I can pay the dude $80 to install it, but I feel like I can do it myself.
Anyway. Thanks!

The vehicle doesn't have a traditional accessory circuit. I believe that the factory stereo may be controlled through canbus. You can wire your aftermarket stereo down to the drivers side fuse block.

See the following link for wiring info. Any of the listed ignition wires will work for turning the stereo on with the key.

Or you can use a data interface module that will get you all that you need at the factory harness.

Hey there, I just got around to looking at wiring info, I think number 3 says n/a, does that mean that slot is empty and I could add a fuse? Or would it be easier to splice into an existing wire?

I ended up getting a metra 70-1784, I believe it does work for the VW too, which I seen on another post.
I didn't have to wire anything in, it powers up.
When I turn the key to power on, I have to press the power button on the radio, but doesn't bother me.
I'm thinking the shop was thinking I was planning on using the canbus? Which I'm not,
So seems like everything is good!
Thanks again!

Ah, I retract my statement, I see without the consistent 12v, the radio memory gets reset, so I'll need to wire that in, which should be no big deal.
