Hi all,
Here is a picture and description of where the leak is that I recently found. The van was parked on a high angle in a driveway during a rain, with the rear doors at the height of the incline. I found that the plastic gaskets (?) that run the wire through the van from the rear door leaks water into the van. Here are photos.

The water that entered through the hole is significant when parked on an incline. Has anyone solved this issue? I want to try butyl tape but I'm worries about the wire that runs through this gasket.

Van is in town mode now with mattress out, the foot of mattress is at the rear drivers rear door, I think when I open door water drips from top of door. I have just put part of tarp over that portion, it will cover the top of the mattress when in travel mode. This does not fix the issue but does mannage it, maybe manage is not really a way to describe issue, maybe rig. There is a basement in this van.

Oof yeah that short term fix is not ideal.

I tried weather stripping around the outside of the door as well to no avail. Water still seeped through as if nothing was there.

Looks like I'm gonna have to engineer a solution. I ordered PVC sheets and they arrive tomorrow. My plan is to template the inside of the plastic gasket, cut out the PVC, fit it into the gasket with a hole for the wire, and seal around it + use an atrocious amount of butyl tape on the inside of the van. Super unideal but it is what it is. I'll probably end up doing that + the weather stripping and I'll report back.

I must admit, this does not work well. It's extremely hard to fit the PVC into this oddly shaped area and even harder to properly make a seal around it with silicone. I tried just the PVC + silicone and it didn't work perfectly. It was better than nothing as before, but water drips through. As I was applying the butyl tape on the interior, I began to dislike this solution even more, because it made me realize that the water that leaks from the PVC+silicone will get trapped by the butyl tape. Honeslty, I'm going to scrap the entire idea and start over. The wire that comes through this area is a real pain.

What I may try next is:
1. Disconnect the wire from the inside of the van
2. Recut the PVC and create a hole in the center of the PVC so that the wire can go through
3. Install a grommet around the PVC hole with silicone, let the silicone cure completely
4. Install the PVC with the wire running through it, but seal the edges of the PVC with butyl tape instead of silicone (silicone was way too difficult to get to seal properly around the perimiter of such a small space
5. Cry if it doesn't work.

I'm open to ideas!!!
