Vehicle Maintenance History Thread

I am starting this thread as a place where maintenance history can be posted.

Post a summary of your problems and issues and when you need to start doing bigger cost items such as tires and brakes. This will help others get a handle on the cost to own a Ram PMC City.

I will start in the next post.

Front brakes & rotors – 46,000 miles

Front sway bars at 52,000 miles
Tires at 56,000 miles

2015 Ram PMC – 46,000 miles since 12/2015
Replaced right front headlight (broken by rock) - $630
Tires at 41,000 miles
Front brakes & rotors at 46,000 miles

2015 Ram PMC –34,000 miles since 03/2016
Replaced PCM & BCM under warranty at 1,500 miles

2015 Ram PMC SLT – 20,000 miles since 07/2016
No issues, only routine maintenance

2016 Ram PMC – 24,000 miles since 08/2016
No issues, only routine maintenance

2016 Ram PMC – 4,500 miles since 12/2016
No issues, only routine maintenance

You can see that we had two cooling fan assemblies fail and one vehicle needed the front sway bars replaced. Of course this all happened out of warranty.

These vehicles have 276,500 miles on them as a group.

In addition to the above maintenance items we have had to replace 3 bent rims.

One was from having to drive the van after a flat tire to get to a place safe to stop.

One was a very deep pot hole.

The third was when the van was hit from the side in an accident, the other vehicle took out the rim, rear bumper, a rear quarter and one of the back doors.

Transmission Fluid analysis - 81,000+ miles

I have attached the lab reports for trans fluid with 81,000 miles on it and for new, unused trans fluid.

The fluid was drained by the dealer and the new fluid was also supplied by the dealer. It appears that the factory fluid differs from the oil that the dealer would use to replace it. The factory fluid has manganese and the replacement fluid does not.

Ram recommends NEVER changing the fluid. The lab says that if it would not void the warranty they advise changing the fluid.

The mechanic at the dealer stated that the fluid is $50 per quart and that you could not replace it 100%, just drain what you can and then refill to proper level.

Hope this info helps some of you make a decision on whether to drain and refill the trans or not.
