I found a few videos that show how to convert the useless dash clipboard to a flip up clipboard & device holder. The videos show the part number that needs to be ordered and can be googled. The kit does however cost a bit over $100 and will block some vision - which I assume is why it's not standard on the USA vehicles.

You can get it from the UK as you say. Not worth $100 in my opinion but, hey, if you think you want/need it go for it. A few here have already done it.

I prefer proeddies solution - just take the screws of that hold it in and use the space to hide valuables.

Thanks to your videos and links, I ordered the European clip board two weeks ago and just received it today. I will be installing it over the weekend.

I got the European one (from eBay) . . . not so much that I think it will be useful or that I plan on using it, but mainly because the completely useless, backward facing OEM clipboard is an insult to me as a vehicle owner.

Whoever specified or "designed" the US spec ProMaster "clipboard" should find a less damaging function in society. Yes - - they should find something to do that is less dangerous to society than "designing" automotive dash components.

I get that there is probably some US regulation that made the European clipboard unsuitable, but to replace it with a completely unusable facade is ridiculous. Just accept the limits of your cleverness and make it a blank cover or dig deep and make it something usable like the cubby as @proeddie did.
