What should I expect/hope/be-willing-on-a-good-day to pay for the configuration below? It's coming up $35,180 just by using the online configurator.

Details:
- ordering from factory, exact match on specs
- ordering in Northeast (Mass, or CT/VT/NH/RI/NY)
- 16k down. no trade in.

Happy for any suggestions, bargaining strategies, etc.

I'm currently emailing with 5 or so dealers in my area, which is somewhat akin to running in quicksand trying to get the "internet sales managers" to actually manage a sale via the internet instead of just telling me to come in and then not getting back to me with a quote or answer to a question. After the lawyers,,... I never thought it would be this hard to give a way like thirty grand. Big fun.

Thanks again in advance for any opinions,

:)PP

You should be able to beat them down by a minimum of 12% ($4000 +~-) to as much as 20% if you can find something in stock that is close to your needs.

When you contact them ask for their bottom line price on line and be sure to let them know they have one shot for your business, then you can try negotiating down a bit more. Watch out for dealer prep and paperwork charges that do nothing but increase your cost. I never pay a dealer to do their paperwork and the manufacturer includes prep in the cost up front.

Most likely if you custom order be prepared to pay more. It makes no sence but they usually are more willing to negotiate a better price on an in stock vehicle.

Depends on incentives you're eligible for.

I think everyone gets below invoice with incentives. But some get way below invoice with up fitters allowances and other deals.

Basically, you should know what invoice is. Then take invoice and add all the incentives and deals on top of that. It's all out there on the web. Try Edmunds. Dealer will usually run thru all the incentives. You can ask dealer.

They asked me for example, you military, small business, etc. Those were the incentives when I bought.

I only qualified for the $1000 factory incentive. So I paid $1000 below invoice.

Interesting story: I did that, got the local dealer's best price from a salesman. Found a better, cheaper one in another state and bought it. Notified local salesman. He sent an obnoxious email about all the time he spent with me selling me on a Promaster (1 1/2 hours total)

I sent a note to the dealership owner. He replied, apologizing, and offering to fire the salesman! I told him, "no, just teach him how to deal with customers". Owner also said I was very welcome to do my service there!

Seems like most dealers don't get the statement, "Give me your best price offer. I will compare with others, so do the best you can. You get one shot at the sale!"

I am confused why one would buy both the back up camera and the Park Sense? If I can see the object behind me why do I need the beep??

Being a luddite with an iPhone that has music, phone, maps, and bluetooth, why buy an additional $350 dollar radio over the included one? Isn't it going to be outdated in a couple of years while my phone can be replaced for $99 and continue its contract thereby having up to date technology? Scantron like devices report everything and can be had for $70.

Why the Tire Sealant and Air pump and not have the spare deleted as many new cars do? Is this just a $50 for what wally world sells for $20?

The Trailer tow group for $395 can be had for $175 from Curt and install is 20 minutes.

If I care enough about price to go through much bid/negotiation effort I would probably be able to save $1000 on the order and lots of my time. If the $1000 is not important why bid etc? I will face these choices in a couple of months so I need to understand. BTW I am a COBA card carrier (if you hadn't guessed)

The beep saved my "rear" once when I didn't see something in the dark...

Somebody posted a pic of the OEM hitch set-up on here awhile back. It looked like a pretty clean install, tucked up under the bumber. Have to say it looked good enough I might have paid a bit more that the DIY price to get it?

Think the UCONNECT is required to get the backup camera? Would definitely prefer not to have the uconnect, but I do want the camera.

On the Ram Build It site the U-connect radio IS required to have the backup cam. I'm impressed with the aftermarket backup cams but the sensor is a judgement call and if it happened to save a terrible result once I see its value. I am thinking someone posted about a bluetooth cam that would connect to the iPhone/iPad but I haven't found it. Am I right the radio addition and the backup cam =$550? I think FCA should have considered them safety necessities and included them. Whack the TPMS and make them standard? And the extra $125 because they give you ONE remote, doesn't everyone need two? EVERYONE!

Looking at the build options at NadaGuides, it does select the UConnect when the Parkview camera is chosen.

My experience and opinions are a composite of most of your replies.
My window sticker (attached) was 35,780. USD I paid 29,900 + Ohio sales tax so I was somewhere around $32,500. out the door. 2014 model bought in late 2014. That was for a gas model and in USD but it does show you a much better than 10% discount mentioned earlier.

I searched the official Ram site for what I wanted and found one fitting the description of my needs about 95% on the lot 100 miles away. I took that deal to the local dealer who said they could not come close to that price so I made a day of it and bought it out of town. The local guy was pissed but I told him if he was within $500. I would stay with him but he could not so that was that. The local dealer gives me great service however.

I also agree with some comments about the park assist and camera being redundant. First of all the mirrors on these things are excellent. I often forget to look at my camera and I have no door glass side or rear. Second the camera is mounted about 8' up and give an awesome wide angle view well beyond what you need. There is no blind spot and total darkness is never an issue. All this with my 50 year old horrible eyes. I do not wish I had park assist at all. I would not pay for it if I was doing this again.

U-connect is adequate. I like that it is an integral part of the van. I am not sure an aftermarket unit would be a perfect match to the vehicle. I suspect one would lose some of the functionality of the U-connect with a new deck?. If I am bored and want to spend some upgrade money in the music department I will add an amp and upgrade the speakers.

A factory hitch is nice but so is a Curt hitch and some hundred dollar bills in your pocket when you are done bolting it on the van yourself with ease. Another nice place to save. I used the savings to buy steps all around.

You have built a beautiful van there. These look great in silver. I had two colors as my #1- blue or silver. It was a coin flip for me. I saw a silver one the other day and loved it. But I highly recommend the factory aluminum wheels. They make the van and are a very fair price. I get a lot of comments on my wheels when it is all cleaned up.

Good luck.

Getting down to a decision. Finalfinalized on PM specs, so it's just a cost value on PM vs Transit at this point.

Dropped the suspension seat since that would mean that I couldn't get anything but the basic passengers seat. Thinking both seats with lumbar & heat instead.
@RDinNHandAZ, reason for doing both the backup camera and the park assist is two-fold:
#1 - Guessing the camera craps out on me at some point.
#2 - Clicked to de-select the park assist option when building out the thing on the Ram site, and I guess it didn't deselect and I didn't catch it until sending to the dealers, and it's so damned hard to get anything that approaches good, fast customer service out of the dealers that I simply didn't have it in me to update, so thinking up rationale #1 was easier;)..

So,,,,,,,, attached is one of the quotes I've gotten. They're telling me that this is absolute lowest that they can do. True? Thoughts?

Basically, they're they're saying MSRP as configured is $35,310 and they'll sell for they're cost of $33,387. That would be $1,923 or 5.4% off.

Still waiting on a couple other quotes. One of them mentioned 'cost minus holdback' or some such, which if I read it right might mean some more off.

You are in a good location to shop. I would call all dealers within driving distance (I called over 26 dealers and ended up buying used out of state). You want to talk to the Commercial or Fleet Manager. You should also research all available rebates (dealer cash, upfitter allowance, trade group rebates, etc.). The trade group rebates are the most frequently forgotten. There are several that qualify you for a $500 rebate. Get the invoice price from Truecar, Edmunds or the dealer and then add in the rebates for which you qualify.

The challenge is negotiating on a vehicle you are ordering. You have much more room to bargain with a vehicle on the lot.

Unfortunately Ram is showing no incentives at the moment. But that doesn't mean there are none. They might still have some quirky ones Edmunds wouldn't list.

Like jostalli said, you should ask about upfitter allowance, Military, credit union, loyalty cash. Ask if there is anything out there.

Still if nothing, get it in writing that they give you any incentives that might be there when you take delivery.

I have received about 6 quotes from various dealers. 3 offered invoice price. One offered invoice price less $500. Another offered invoice price less $600. And the last one offered invoice price less half the hold back which was about $580. The hold back is around 3%. Some sent me printouts which showed the hold back amount, identified as "HB".

General cash rebates can vary by region. Right now the general rebate amount on a 2014 is $750-$3000. I don't think there are any cash rebates on 2015's, except for upfitter or trade rebates.

I'm in Central PA. Looking for a GAS, 2500, 159 inch wheelbase and hi top. Everyone around here is almost at retail (MSRP) Did have one dealer give me 3000 off MSRP.

Too be fair, I haven't walked into a dealer yet. Just doing internet pricing. Looking to buy one in less than two weeks. I am in HVAC, so it has been busy. I know what I want, so I want to do the dealing all over the phone, if possible.

Typically, I have done well at purchasing vans in the past, but I am not having such luck this time on the phone.

If a van is in the 35,000-36,000 range, what should I expect to buy it for? The most frequent reply is "750 plus 1000 for a bin package is what I can take off". This is for 2014 or 2015 Rams

Any difference between the 2014 and 2015? I am not against the idea of traveling to Ga or NC to buy a van to save some money

Thanks
Greg

There is no reason you shouldn't be able to buy a new Promaster for at least 12% off sticker price and a few have got up to 20% off. Dealers may be willing to deal more on a '14 over a '15 but I think the sticker price is the same. Obviously title and state tax are on top of the final price and not negotiable and really have nothing to do with the price the dealer sells the van for other than your total cost.

When I bought my Promaster last Spring there was a link to a website I found right here that listed most new Promasters for sale by dealers in the whole country by location. I found it very helpful even though I ended up buying mine ten miles away! I don't have the link handy but perhaps someone else knows of remembers it. If not it should show up if you search this site.
