Hi everyone

One of the features we are looking to try is to have the bed slide into 2 positions. One with the bed all the way to the back of the van and also have a way to slide the bed forward 18". This 18" of space in the back is where our porta-potty is. So the idea is to slide the bed forward, climb on the bed and go down in the space behind the bed to use the potta-potty.

I am looking for something to allow the bed to slide easy. I have wood on wood now and it is harder to move the bed than I would like. Looking at UHMW Tape to reduce the friction. Anyone use this or have other ideas on how to do this? Here is a link to the product.

Thx

I would go with a Teflon sheet. It machines well and as RD describes you can protect the surfaces by countersinking the screws, etc. It will slide better than nylon. There are a number of suppliers out there.

What would really work well are drawer slides. Here is an example of a side mount 18" slide. Two or four could be mounted in a way so that the bed will slide.

Hi,

You might just try wax -- it can be surprisingly good.

Something like this..

Scott,

The UHMW tape will be easy to apply and should work fine. May only need it on one surface.
TapeCase is a good seller. We buy 3M VHB tape from them.

All the best,
Hein

Buff the wood down with a bar of soap, work it in real well. Slicker than you can believe.
