I bought a service contract for tire and wheel mishap, from the dealer, though another company when I bought my van 6 months ago. Looked like the screw in my tire was covered, BUT NO. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK MY $178 and did not register me with the outside company. They say it was an "accident". The contract is only good for one year and had I not tried to use it I would not have known. Nor would I have read the thing to find out that I payed $178 for "Program is limited to a single use of our towing or other covered service" and $100 is the top benefit.
So now the dealership says that I will be covered from 2/03/17 - 2/03/18, but the contract dose not cover preexisting conditions. HAHAHAHA, LMAO

I bought a Jeep Wrangler from them about 4 years ago. They were ok to deal with, but I never trust a car salesman. Most car salesmen can not be trusted. Always make sure everything is in writing and double check all contracts.
