Production of the ram ProMaster van has officially begun in Coahuilla, Mexico. The ProMaster has a lot of customization options. There are three wheelbase lengths, four overall body lengths, two roof heights, three trim levels, and three body types. The ProMaster will run on a 280hp version of the Chrysler 3.6L V6, and unlike most other full-size vans, the Promaster will have front wheel drive. Ram claims this results in more cargo space because there is no need for a drive shaft.

No price yet, but rumor has it it will be priced in the mid-30s.

front-wheel-drive setup also allows for a lower floor to make loading and unloading easy. i wouldn't be surprised if an under-body picture showed the rear being "empty"

If the front wheel drive has the benefit of extra cargo space (which is great for a full size van,) why does every other van use rear wheel drive?
