ProMaster roof rack question

16341 Views 10 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  OMTEC Auto Accessories Co
Hey all! I recently ordered a PM low roof 136"wb. I assumed that a ladder rack can be mounted as I see many other vans without rain gutters that have ladder racks. I am not interested in a load rite drop down rack. Just looking for an aluminum (won't rust) rack and have made several calls to rack manufacturers and they all have claimed to have no solution for these types of vans. I'm going to make a daring guess that I am not the only person looking for a ladder rack.

My first question is, has anybody come across anything yet regarding this?

Second question is, has anybody noticed if there are bolt locations on the roof that are similar to the NV? I put a call into my salesman and he was out of the office today. I may have to take a spin by there to look for myself. Just thought I'd ask in case anybody else might've noticed!

Thanks for the help!

Adrian Steel has some

The PM has reinforced areas already built in to the roof for rack installation.

Thanks Dennis! That's a nice looking rack. I'll have to call for pricing as it looks so new!
I would wait for a drop down ladder rack. I have one on my sprinter and love it. I'm sure they will be out soon cause these pm are tall.
How much does the roof handle? Most of the time its just ladders but i've always wondered how much it takes before its dangerous.

Good thought carryon. I'm assuming the reinforced mounting points are relatively strong as they're placed near the outer edges of the van, hence most of the weight will probably be put on the side walls.

I have a call in to my local Adrian Steel dealer on the ladder rack under my original post. When I get a return call with a price, I'll post it!

I wanted to report back for anyone who may be interested. This Adrian Steel rack is coming in at $801 for the 3 bar version and $630 for the two bar in black or white.

So far this is one of the few racks that's not a drop down style. Just thought I'd let y'all know!
Too bad Adrian Steel doesn't have weight rating on those bars, I think it's important to list that just so people know what exactly they're working with
how tall is this going to end up making the Promaster? I see some real clearance issues because of the high roof....
