Hi guys,

Two days ago, I had my Pro Master cargo van 2021 washed/waxed by a team of 3 people.
They went on the roof to clean the top.

After the job, I remarked that the sensors alarm was on at each back-up. I cleaned the camera eye at the top of the cargo doors but it did not solve the problem.

Could you help me to solve that problem?

Thank you so much,

Lili (Maitre Renard is my van’s name)

I have a somewhat similar issue when I insert a step in the trailer hitch. The alarm comes on when shifting in reverse. Remove the step, no alarm. I suspect that this is the rear cross path monitoring system that comes with BSM option . The sensors are actually inside the bumper. They probably got wet or soap or something on them. Or you have something behind the van .
See the blue rectangle in the picture, the sensor is attached on the inside of the bumper at that location. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply. Is there a way to shut the alarm?

The sensors in the bumper may be slightly displaced or their connectors not fully engaged. Make sure the sensors are clean, seated flush with the bumper and the connectors fully secured. How you could possibly allow somebody else the joy of washing and waxing your PM is beyond me.😎

Apologies for the bit of hijack - does the beeping for the reverse sensor come from the stereo or is there a dedicated beeper? I am not getting any "beeping" at all but I do see the proximity visual on the stereo that shows the sensors are working. Wondering if the stereo is not beeping or if the "beeper" is not beeping.

We installed a hitch on our PM and almost always have a bike rack on the back. The beeping would go off any time we were in reverse (bike rack too close to the bumper). Simple solution - inside the bumper - disconnect the wiring harness for the sensors. My husband did it (without me around). I can't say if he had to take off the plastic bumper - of if he could reach it from underneath. YES - the dashboard does give a warning light - for the backup sensors (yellow triangle with !), but that's very easy to ignore.

What kind of bike rack do you have? Is it the door hang type (Thule Elite XT) or is it the type that mounts on the trailer hitch?
I am asking since I plan to purchase the Thule Elite XT (door attach type) and I hope that there is no beeping since it is high enough above the bumper.

I have a 2015 so my experiences with the backup sensors may not be the same, but for me they've been a royal pain in the rear. Multiple trips to the Ram dealer early on and they found no way of disabling them for me. The issue for me is that they come on while towing which means while I'm trying to back up my boat or enclosed trailer I get a constant beeping.

I can say that they can be "disabled" by simply unplugging one of the sensors, but that causes a warning light on the dash and the odometer to blink. At least in my case I've found no way to disable them even while following some of the suggestions here in the past that involved updating the internal wiring in the back of the van.

We have a NorthShore mountain bike rack (4 bikes). It's hitch mount (and was purchased well before the idea of a van popped into our heads).

As a side note, don't let anybody go onto your roof unless absolutely necessary. It is not designed to endure point loads (like feet) and is easily dented. When going onto the roof is necessary, always use something like plywood to spread the load.
