I wanted to do some sort of curtain or cover over the passenger slide window. I was thinking of just using a nice looking black out curtain, cutting it to size, stitching the edges, attaching it to the top and stitching some magnets (or velcro) to the bottom.

Anyone got any pictures or beta on some other ideas? There are surprisingly few google results for "sliding door curtain van"

We just did Reflectix shades

Its a 5 minute job to cut them out of Reflectix. If you take some care cutting them, they will stay in place just from the friction depending on the frame, but some small Velcro tabs also work fine. We were thinking they would just be temporary, but they work well enough that we have not upgraded them even though they are kind of ugly from the inside.

I'd recommend the silver color on the outside as it does a good job of blocking heat gain.

Or, you could do this (if you have a few years to think about it!)

Once you have a recessed rectangle, it could be roller shades, cell shades, insulated panel, etc.

An easier way would be to make a frame attached to the 4 holes on each side of the window, then proceed from there. Ycan add over 3.4" of thickness to the door metal without interfering with the slider action.
