Hi, my drive shift is stuck in Park and the key is also stuck as well. I was able to manually override the shifter being stuck but still can't figure out how to release the key. I took the panel off underneath and I keep reading there's a release tab but I don't see one. All I see is a small metal casing with a hole in it, but it doesn't move and I stuck a bobby pin in there and nothing is happening. See picture as well.

Already tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal and that doesn't release it. Thanks!

Travelvan is right, the key not releasing is because something is shorted, draining voltage. There is a mechanical over ride to get the key out. Look up at it under the steering column, and you should see a molded in hole with a black plastic tab sticking out of it. Pull that, and your key will release. Disconnect the main battery, and your key will also release I believ

This thread is helpful because I just unlocked my van to show friends in town and had the same thing happen. Not having driven it in a few weeks the battery was dead. Definitely going to install a switched trickle charger off my shore power, but for a 2018 with 21K miles, is this about the time I should replace OEM battery anyway?

I've already got one car with a parasitic I've been chasing for three years, I'm hoping this isn't another - that and the oil (cooler?) leak... I left Ford hoping Ram would be at least a little more reliable!

My 2021 with 600 miles on it had a dead battery after not driving for a while last winter. I borrowed a battery charger and kept it on overnight to charge it. I ended up getting dcdc combo unit that trickle charges off the lithium battery bank because I just don't drive it much in the winter.
