I am looking for an OBD bluetooth reader that works well with the Promaster Diesel. Do any of them give maintenance status and DEF fluid levels? Needs to work with iPhone. Thanks

Many of the apps will list the items it measures and monitors on their website. I have used Torque, but not with a diesel.

I use "ODB Fusion” app store download. Very good and a huge library of PIDs for most anything the ODB ELM dongle can get. Works with diesel. Several of us use it. I use it on my iPhone, iPad mini etc. Here is the Dongle I got. It has an off-on switch so you can leave it in all the time without draining the battery and is low profile so it won’t get bumped.

ginalolap, it's there, you just have to search the product name through amazon.ca. This one appears to be a newer version with auto-sleep, and it ships from Amazon itself.

Picked up an ELM327 bluetooth code scanner at Princess Auto and it wouldn't connect. Will try again with wifi type connector. The ELM327 chip only connects to IOS with wifi.

You are right I couldn’t find the exact one I ordered so I frustrated myself and then landed on that one. For iPhone etc it must be WIFI NOT Bluetooth for some reason and so:

Good call KOV but I’d have that broken off in a few days. The newer wifi ELM dongles are low profile and less of chance to bump them getting in or out.
In a prior question it was asked if they output the service info and DEF level. I have a PID for the “reagent level” that fluctuates a lot when driving but shows a percent amount. Its only a rough guide. None I can find for service. BTW I haven’t found one for Regen but did find one that seems to be showing the percent of the DPF. Now I want a good iPad mini holder for up on the dash. I want it to hold the mini down low over the top of the radio. Anyone use this one?

I use an OBD reader connected via built-in wifi to an old ipad mini that I mounted just below the radio. I use an app called Dashcommand to view the data, but I haven't found anything that shows DEF level or Regen status. My mount is a magnet mount with a suction cup. The suction cup wouldn't adhere to the slightly rounded panel above the 3 cup holders so I installed it with screws. I also use the ipad with the Garmin app combined with a Dual GPS receiver. Are you able to read pending maintenance on your ScanGuage?

I'm not able to see pending maintenance. That's one of my pet peeves of this vehicle, is the inability to see how many kms are due until your next oil change (or DEF fill). I put nearly 20000km on my van and then just figured it was time for an oil change, I couldn't wait any longer for the indicator light to come on. Another shocking discovery is the washer fluid, there isn't an indicator light for this either.

On the diesel, you can see miles to oil change on the EVIC under the menu (when the van is in neutral and not moving) - just select "Service".

No never heard of it. What does it do?

There is a difference in obd2 scan / read, often good for most diagnostics and obd programing where values are updated on the various ECUs. There is a good thread on obd2 programming over here
