We got stuck in the mud all the way across the country in Monument Valley in the middle of nowhere, had to have our van towed to Flagstaff. 2015 Ram Promaster 3500 ext (120k miles) now only goes in reverse, not drive. Shop said transmission is fine just mounts need to be replaced and CV axle assemblies. It's the only shop around that can do it for us that has a lift big enough so we are sort of at their mercy. But from Googling CV axle assemblies on the Promaster do not seem like a $3k job for parts and labor? Thoughts? TIA! See attached quote.

The factory CV axles are about $450 online, and I've never seen a CV axle assembly take more than a couple hours to install. I would ask for a parts and labor breakdown because that is absolutely ridiculous.

There may be more to the job and they may be replacing more than just what is indicated. If there are other parts involved that are not clear from the initial estimate, then its a different matter. Perhaps they are also changing wheel bearings, etc.

I do know there are some expensive parts for the mounts if they are messed up.
