We are getting close to the end of our diamond plate party, one or two more trips to the young machinist who has been crafting our
diamond plate trim.
Can someone tell me what's behind this foam object? If what's behind it can be screwed/drilled into/ etc. Anything that might assist us in determining whether we can affix diamond plate to it.
Same with the other foam object opposite on the driver's side.

airbag and the foam in my opinion is to keep people from using it as a cubby hole.

Ha yes Google is my friend.
Only that air bag wires are there somewhere.
Tell you what, when I remove it I'm going to take pics of whats behind it
I was hoping someone had an image already or more exactly knowledge of wire placement,
even better and answer to the question 'what's behind the foam block?', did read there is a hole there
but no specifics on hole size.
No problem...discovery later this week.
Just wanted to have as much pre-knowledge possible to give to the machinist.

You might think twice about bumpy-head on foam thingie vs fine slick diamond plate . I think there is rubber/plastic "diamond plate' available .
I'm going to "finish' my foam thingies with the curtain fabric . Bumpy head is important in a 118" stumpy .

I would suggest that when/if that airbag deploys the styrofoam will be shot into the van. So will your diamond plate, and it will bounce off the walls like a Hanna-Barbera cartoon character maiming anyone it comes in contact with.
