While this forum is about as good as it gets for making internet friends, nothing beats face-to-face. These two PM's shared a table at Keystone State Park near Tulsa as MrNomer and I "hosted" KOV and his wife for an evening as they venture west.

I encourage you to put your location in your profile and also to post your upcoming trips, and I encourage you to reach out to people who are coming your way or are along your way. Besides being able to examine others' conversions up close and personal, it's easier to strike up a friendship when you have a common passion.

Making It Happen

Winston's table thread got hijacked to discussion of the friendships which have evolved through the forum.

We would love to expand the "circle." Since we are building these campervans so we can roam, odds are we can bump into each other along the way if we just communicate. These meet-ups mean not only new friends but the learning experience of hands-on exam of another build. And in personal conversation, tidbits of experience are shared that might not make the forum.

We stayed with KOV and met RD and Steve when we were in NH visiting family. We stayed with RD on the way home from the Grand Canyon and met up with KOV when he passed through Oklahoma. We shared a campsite with quest4adv at Zion. We recently met medicineman when we toured east. A meet-up with Winston somewhere between here and Kentucky is likely in the next couple weeks. (All with spouses, of course.)

It is not difficult to make this happen. The first step is to post your location in your profile. Then, make your plans known so that others see possibilities.

The more, the merrier.

Excellent posting MsNomer. We're most likely not going to do more than an overnight trip (wife not liking camping, and two large dogs), but if anyone is heading in the area of Whidbey Island, WA give us a shout. We have tons of space, a 30 amp outlet, and even a septic dumpout. Would love to meet some members.

Well, as a matter of fact, we'll be up that way in October. Two meetings in Seattle and relatives on Vancouver Island. We'll give you a shout.
