This has got to be incredibly frustrating. You might all have to wait for an 'AI-dongle-thingy' they'll be able to plug into your OBD port to analyze your van over a week-long stretch of your usual driving. Upon your return they'll be able to tell you exactly what's wrong and maybe even give you a WAG at how long it might take for the back-ordered part(s) to arrive.

In the meantime, I'd stop torturing myself, shut all that crap off, enjoy 'dumb-driving' while getting on with my life, and be alert for concrete news that a real solution has been deployed. If you're lucky this may all come to pass while you still own the vehicle.
Im finding the Cross Wind Correction dangerous when semi-trucks pass by. Can not be disabled.

Agreed. Basically the choices are live with it or start the buy back process if any of the problems are deal breakers and you can’t wait months for a fix. I can’t figure out why Ram won’t at least pick the low hanging fruit with the Uconnect/IPC stuff with a software fix, it’s been over a year and these are problems the dealers can’t fix themselves. The FCW, stability control, ACC stuff is gonna be tough to solve for Ram within a reasonable amount of time and they do impact the safety and function of the vehicles.

I’m very happy with ours but I went into this with low expectations. I also live in a state with an amazing lemon law so we have plenty of time to wait and see. I can deal with a busted radio and multinational gauge cluster for now. I’m more irritated by the denial and gaslighting from Ram than the actual problems at this point.

I should add for those that are following along and do not own a 2022+, none of these new features that are broken were finished development when they were installed in the vans so you can’t just turn them off in Uconnect.

Even the few like Intelligent Speed Assist or the Units (KM/Miles) that have a software toggle that a driver can set don’t actually work and will randomly revert to a previous setting. It’s really bad. Things like the Adaptive Cruise Control following distance and headlights that have physical buttons also don’t work as those buttons/switches are just inputs, they don’t directly control anything.

You have to think, if the FAA and Boeing can get it wrong on a passenger Jet and that took a year to fix, what’s Ram and the NHTSB gonna do on a cargo van lol. It’s gonna take time.

I was driving today in a Gale warning with 35 mph winds with 50 mph gusts and nothing activated. I’m guessing that our van doesn’t have the same stability control software and/or others are malfunctioning 🤷‍♂️. Our stability control will step in if you make a sudden maneuver so I think our van is working as designed.

It’s going to be a hard problem to get fixed for those that have it. I would get a dash cam to document it if it’s acting up on your van, otherwise it’s just going to be a “we couldn’t duplicate” situation like the other issues.
Did you have the cruise control on? Even on our 2021, strong X-winds kick the cruise off. It's worse when pulling a trailer too.

Some positive upgrades. To me the whole cabin feels more premium. Having the RAM truck steering wheel. Mine with leather. The turn signal and wiper stalks feel better quality and more satisfying to operate.
The gear shift lever feels more premium. The other interior upgrades are more obvious.

I knew the Mercedes vans were a nightmare with their nanny controls, so I ordered none on this van. They only forced two on us, cross wind and frontal collision. Thankful I could turn off frontal. I’ll learn to live with the cross wind nanny. Heck, I‘ve lived with TPMS sensors nagging me since 2014! This one seems to think I need 80 psi in my rear tires. Never happening at my weight. Let the Class Bs run 80.

I'm one of those following along because I haven't bought yet. So I'm very grateful for these posts that let us know upfront "buyer beware". Low expectations seem to be key. As others have said, managers always think software can be fixed last minute. But if the design was bad from the start, that's not true.

It's interesting that you guys seem to be having more first-model-year issues than we had in 2014. Perhaps because our vans were so much more basic.
FCA probably had better engineers at the time (there is a lot more competition for talent now) and put a lot more resources into the project since it was a new and shiny product. This was more of a back burner hack job that got rushed to keep production going. A 2021 PM had an engine and transmission that were replaced in the rest of the lineup years ago. My guess is they were winding down production of the old 3.6, 62te, Uconnect 5, etc. and the upgrades were driven by that. Otherwise we would not have the ******* 2022's that have the old front end and new everything else. The crazy part is these problems were well known and driving warranty claims in the 2022's and they carried them over to the 2023's.

An idea popped in my head this morning as I walked away from my van dinging loudly with the headlights on but the switch in the off position. It might be more than a simple software fix if devices are losing their connection on the can bus. It could be a wiring error like some boxes being fed from relays that turn the power off to it at a time when another box is still expecting a response from it. That would explain why you can't control the headlights without the ignition in the run position. Thank goodness there is some master relay that cuts power after a period of time to stop the battery from going dead.

On my 2023, I can turn the headlights on by just opening the door and turning the switch. No fob near by either. It does ding at me to alert. I expect this behavior.

You don't happen to have some form of headlight delay enabled? I turned that off.

I set my tires down to 60 psi so I am now very used to the "Low Pressure Warning" - what always gets my funny bone is that the TPMS correctly shows my pressure as 60 psi and then tell me to inflate to at least 35 psi!

I don't have Dwight's background in prior models but can say that the 2022 PM is 99% perfect as far I am concerned. Driving is smooth and easy. Cabin is well appointed and comfortable. There are minor gripes like stupid sign reading software but I read my own signs, and the half-arsed FCW which I have shut off. Then there are the cup holders that are so far down from the driver that you need 6 ft long arms.... OI VEY

Another sign that they tried to cut and paste software from the donor vehicles without testing or verification.

Just avoid vans with nanny option packages and you’ll be fine. It’s a dam nice van. The nicest of the 3 I have owned. Very happy despite my few rants!

2022. Adding to the dirty laundry…. Posted before about radiator fans coming on sitting at startup at 161 degrees(5th light on temp cluster). Turn off motor, fans then operate normal at 214 degrees. But, random trips they stay on all the time and have to pull fuses. Plus many dash functions have no memory at each startup.

Looking at this thread, the 2023 front end redesign seems to address a few of the cowling water issues reported. The drainage holes near each fender are much larger. At least 3/4". They drain outside in the wheel well. There is no center seam. The cowling is one solid piece less one removable service section on the right. (Not being overly familiar with PMs, I apologize if this was addressed in recent model years.)

Drove my new 2023 home today. 2 hours behind the wheel with it.

1) The 9 speed transmission has better drivability. It felt like it could hold 70 mph with cruise better. Less shifting, more peppy driving 70.
2) backup camera is radically different. So much so, I was confused by distances backing into my driveway. Way wider field of view. No sign of shadow blindness like the old ones. I give it a 10 rating with old one being a 5.
3) The standard free radio…..OMG it’s like a premium fancy car radio. Big, fancy screen with wireless carplay.
4) The new electric power steering feels better to me. Lighter feel.
5) the dash…finally I can tell how fast I’m going with my sunglasses on. The old dark crappy dash is gone.
6) The HVAC control. Fancy, but not as nice as the old one. I can’t see the set temp with sunglasses on. The old fashion knobs were better.
7) WTF, the door pockets are GONE. They were a hero feature of this van. I’m going to buy them online and install. $55/door from Mopar Parts. 5LE27JXWAA - Door Trim Panel Map Pocket, Left 2014-2022 Ram | Mopar Wholesale Parts
8) the black painted steel wheels are awesome looking.
When did you place your order?
