How would I go about removing these black fasteners that holds the muffle heat shield in place? Never seen one like this. I need to remove the muffle and heat shield in order to gain access to the floor so that I can install a bench seat behind the driver's seat.

Pull the center piece out then just pop it out. I find it helps to screw a Sheetrock type screw in the center to pull it out. They are not designed to be reduced I don't think but you can easily if you're carefull.

KOV is right, I have removed several of them to instal my Espar heater. Use a sharp course sheetrock screw threaded into the center, pull with claw hammer and then the outer part can be wiggled out with a couple of screwdrivers.

Thank you! Worked out well. I was able to remove the clips as you said. Installed seat and I didnt even have to remove the muffle, just the heat shield.

Thanks again.
