All are invited to join us at Rocky Neck State Park on the Connecticut Shoreline on Friday May 19 and Saturday May 20 for PROMASTER CONNECTicut 2023.
Last year we had 9 Promaster Van families participate. Based on discussions with many of the participants, I decided to lock in site Osprey OSPR12 where I was located last year for Friday & Saturday. It's a good central site and should serve as an anchor site for any events we may want to have. In addition to the early booking, I'm contacting SquezeInn, hoping he will help co-host the event again!
If you're interested, you should book quickly, because spaces are being booked every day. Many campers want to get out there, and this is the weekend before the Memorial Day Camping Frenzy! Reservations are made at www.reserveamerica.com.
SITES TO BOOK: The Osprey area is a nice shady, yet comfy loop.

Right now, Osprey sites OSPR02,03,04,05,06,07*,08,09,10,11,12 & 16 are available... *I'm contacting SqueezeInn tonight - he may want to book site OSPR07 again... I hope so! The top of the loop has sites that are not too far away either!!!
These sites are just down the path from a beautiful beach, and are in a nice wooded area. As is typical in many CT State Parks, restrooms, showers, and water is nearby all sites, but no shore power hookups available... but for a few nights, this is a nice spot to stay, compare notes, see how others have built their Promaster, etc.
Like last year, I will be grilling CT's famous Hummels Hot Dogs for our Friday night dinner... my treat! They're great and the perfect supper after a drive to Rocky Neck for the weekend.

Campsites are $20 per night for CT residents, $30 per night for out of state. $9 booking fee.
Lots to do in the area. If you plan on a longer trip, there are 2 Casinos with free over-nighting, and many area attractions to enjoy!

Even though I’m not in the built-out van category I’m still tempted to drive up there from SC. I’ve got a sister in NJ, a niece in Providence and that’s right in-between so it would be a good time to visit them both. Also have a good friend in the Adirondacks I haven’t seen in ages that I’d love to catch up with plus other relatives in the Berkshires.
Unfortunately, that’s way too far out for me to plan (due to an elderly father and an ‘impossible’ situation at home). With maybe a 10% chance of being able to make it I’ll have to wait and possibly miss out on a site.
Edit - If the timing is right I might at least be able to stop by for an hour or two between NJ and RI.

You're welcome to do so. If you're headed toward us be sure to let us know!
Because we do the event the weekend before Memorial Day, there may be sites nearby at the last minute if you find you can manage an overnighter.

There is a KOA at exit 72 Niantic but it's $90 to $95 for sites....the most expensive koa I have ever stayed at is Glacier National Park $70+, I usually stay mostly between large cities is $30 something to $40 something. I would have to dodge NYC via i84 the dead deer interstate. They do have sites available with hot showers, tv, wifi, etc. limited black Water sites but most have grey water sites. Good reviews on the baths. shuttle to town.
I noticed the KOA near there but haven't been there.

"Each camping permit allows for a maximum of two vehicles in the park. Only one four-wheeled vehicle, other than the designated camping equipment, may be parked on a campsite. If a second vehicle is registered to the site, it must be parked in one of the designated areas provided."
An argument could be made…. H1k3rb's little baby PM could easily be tucked into our site.

Yes, like we did at Osage Hills State Park in OK a couple years ago. That worked out well plus it split the site fee in half.
Whatever the rules/availability at the time I’ll put the dates on my calendar.

A close reading of the rule cited says, "two vehicles in the park ." That suggests to me that the second vehicle can be in the park, but not at the campsite. When they talk about "other than the designated camping equipment," I think they see this as a tent as the "camping equipment", and a car or van to get you there. So, the second vehicle "must be parked in one of the designated areas provided.) (ie. a parking lot not designated for camping?)"
So a group with some campers in a tent and more in a campervan would work, but probably not 2 campervans. (IMHO). Last year we did see park rangers cruising by every now and then.

Camping and visiting are different at koa, as a camper I can have visitors during day, they cannot stay overnight...see car door on bottom left

Sounds like a blast! Maybe someday when I retire I could come. As of now I save all of my vacation time for what will hopefully be an annual trek to Alaska. Anyone want to meet in Alaska?
