Consider joining us for our 2nd Annual PROMASTER CONNECTicut weekend at Rocky Neck State Park.
Ed,
You need to remind everyone about the Hummel Hot Dog cookout Friday night complete with beans, coleslaw and buttered toasted hot dog rolls.
What will your teaching seminar be this year?
Or is it a surprise….

working on the agenda, rough draft

Friday afternoon is meet and greet, name tags handed out will try to use something other than duck tape

Friday night hot dog extravaganza cook out at
ProEddie Site

Fire side topics for discussion Friday and Saturday:
What item is unique to your van you are proud of? Show and tell
What areas on the East Coast are a must see?
What are your summer 2023 travel plans?
If you had one month to travel from New England area where would you go? (Out west)
Summer or winter itinerary
Looking for more topic suggestions ..

We will have van tours on Saturday afternoon
I just did all fluid changes on my van, thinking of setting up a display of correct fluids with a quick how too discussion at my van

Dinner Saturday night at your site
Everyone prepares a typical on the road meal to eat together at a set time, dinner discussion on food preparation in a van

What am I missing? Suggestions
Thanks

I was speaking to KOV (the old fashioned way - land line ;) )

He suggested that if anyone attending has some expertise with OBD stuff, this might be a great place for others to learn about it and make a few "adjustments"
Yes I am interested in purchasing a OBD monitor, having a hard time deciding what is the right one buy. Want to monitor the transmission temp and the coolant temp.
Seems confusing which one will get the transmission temp or needs an additional code or parameter to see it
Hoping someone in attendance can share this knowledge.

I’d second that idea; it would be great to hear from someone that has experience with them.

I’ll have my ScanGauge but what would really be helpful is to have someone with an Alpha obd to show it off.

I bought a vgate vLinker mc today
It says it’s alphaob compliant
On the alphaob web site this one was listed

I would need to buy the alphaob software?
Somehow load that on scan tool…?how
Also would need the yellow patch cable to give it pins needed
With that I believe you can access the BCM
More functions available to the ECM

makes me scared to mess with this
I would be happy with getting coolant temp and the transmission temp

Beautiful day here in CT just Swaped out trans fluid, filter and a Dorman pan

This alphaob topic will be added to our agenda

I think it’s pretty easy to make the yellow cable it’s just a cat 5 cable I believe. The instructions (pin outs) are in the archives.
I have a tool for making cat 5 cables if that’s all it is.

Looking forward to a GREAT EVENT.

I think everyone will be surprised to see how the same van can be configured, equipped, and accessorized, and it's a perfect way to get to know fellow forumites at a beautiful location!

I have a dozen or so 24" zip ties (for checking transmission fluid) I’ll try to remember to bring along if anyone wants one.

Sure, safe for you KOV in your non-white window van & charm ,,,

Can you imagine me in a roadside check in the white cargo van with one window & a dozen or more 24” zip ties ,,, I can picture the face on the traffic cop and him saying “So you use these to check your transmission fluid” 🤨

I wish all who are attending the event an excellent time !!

We have site Osprey36.

We have an OBD for our GTI that Nick has used for a few years. He purchased one for the van but has not used it yet, but probably will by the time of the meetup.

SqueezeInn: Regarding travels to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, we can talk at length. Nick and I are both Michigan Tech Alumni and our youngest is up there now. We made our relatives travel to see us get married in Copper Harbor (and a boatload came from Maine because it's so worth it 😊). It's fabulous in the summer and great in the winter too if you like snow (287" snow the year I graduated). This weekend is Winter Carnival; you can look up Michigan Tech Winter Carnival 2023 to see pics of the snow statues, broomball, etc.

Strongly recommend McLain State Park. Great sites right on Lake Superior. Unsalted & shark free.
Baraga State Park is a small beauty too on the Keweenaw Bay.
Basically all state parks in upper and lower Michigan are beautiful, clean and connected to lakes.

Things we did a bit different in our van: Inexpensive homemade thermal/sound insulation mix that sprayed on well with a $10 undercoating gun, cheap semi compost toilet with green drain, Lifesaver water purifier, Houghton air conditioner with heat pump, Point Zero Energy Titan solar system, and 2 IceCo Go20 dual zone frig/freezers. We live in rural PA and lose power every so often, so many of the items we chose are dual purpose for home and travel. - Kelly

Our first snow this Winter in Connecticut today!

BRRRRRR! Looking forward to a few warm days at Rocky Neck in May !

I bought a new 5 lb propane mini-tank to try out. It should be perfect for cooking all those Hummels on my Blackstone!

Just 80 days 'til PROMASTER CONNECTicut. Eight sites in Osprey still open!
