All are invited to join us at Rocky Neck State Park on the Connecticut Shoreline on Friday May 19 and Saturday May 20 for PROMASTER CONNECTicut 2023.

Last year we had 9 Promaster Van families participate. Based on discussions with many of the participants, I decided to lock in site Osprey OSPR12 where I was located last year for Friday & Saturday. It's a good central site and should serve as an anchor site for any events we may want to have. In addition to the early booking, I'm contacting SquezeInn, hoping he will help co-host the event again!

If you're interested, you should book quickly, because spaces are being booked every day. Many campers want to get out there, and this is the weekend before the Memorial Day Camping Frenzy! Reservations are made at www.reserveamerica.com.

SITES TO BOOK: The Osprey area is a nice shady, yet comfy loop.

Right now, Osprey sites OSPR02,03,04,05,06,07*,08,09,10,11,12 & 16 are available... *I'm contacting SqueezeInn tonight - he may want to book site OSPR07 again... I hope so! The top of the loop has sites that are not too far away either!!!

These sites are just down the path from a beautiful beach, and are in a nice wooded area. As is typical in many CT State Parks, restrooms, showers, and water is nearby all sites, but no shore power hookups available... but for a few nights, this is a nice spot to stay, compare notes, see how others have built their Promaster, etc.

Like last year, I will be grilling CT's famous Hummels Hot Dogs for our Friday night dinner... my treat! They're great and the perfect supper after a drive to Rocky Neck for the weekend.

Here are a few pics PROMASTER CONNECTicut 2022. We hope for a BIGGER EVENT this year!

Campsites are $20 per night for CT residents, $30 per night for out of state. $9 booking fee.

Lots to do in the area. If you plan on a longer trip, there are 2 Casinos with free over-nighting, and many area attractions to enjoy!

If you reserve a site, please let me know so we can message some details in a group.

I have to say I would have loved to have been there and joined in. I remember our first New England get together with 5 vans and 9 people. It was fun despite the Mosquitos at Bear Brook campground. You will soon forget the nuisance of the rain and remember the companionship and opportunity to see so many custom van builds. Kudos to ProEddie and SqueezeInn for planning and logistics.

RD, That was in 2017 when all our vans were just a few years old (and we were a few years younger too!) I remember the park.... nice place, but full of little tiny flies! And you're right, we still remember the great times and friends from our stay at Bear Brook... even though KOV and I weren't sure we could remember the park's name!

I want to thank-you for inviting those of us who are waiting to get our vans. What a great group of knowledgeable van converters. Your support for newbies was so inspiring. Thank you again for all your kindness and discussions.

This is DonnaS, am I now in the loop to get updates?

Looks like a lot of fun! Maybe one of these years I will get to come. However, I will likely always have dogs and therefore not qualify to stay at this campground. :D
What a delightful weekend. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We were amazed with the sense of “the show must go on” in spite of all the rain. Each build has unique and clever innovations to make vanlife work for various needs. We are inspired to forge on with our build and got some really great tips and ideas. Looking forward to next year!

As a curious onlooker , I too want to thank all I had an opportunity to talk with. Passionate input in real time can not be overrated. The PMForum has been very fulfilling to me for the past 6-7 months I have been reading it, but your voices and excitement nearly put me over the edge. THANK YOU.

I am very sorry I did not make more effort to meet each of you and spend time with your story, as much as could be allowed. I feel I am in the right place to dig in and plan the building of my vehicle/roadhouse , perhaps my final ride. Hashing out the choice of RV platform has been a process. No longer are motor coaches, school busses , truck and trailer, short bus, etc in the mix. After hundreds of thousands miles driving bus and taking note of every wheeled vehicle I find there is something very appealing about the lines of a PM. I've very attracted to the form, coming and going. It's not a Flxible Clipper, but it is available, manageable, and apparently revered by an amazing cast of characters. Thank you for operating one.

My wife shared with me that she spoke with many more of you and reminded me I just don't know how to shut up when I get someone's ear whether they are willing or not. My apologies to innocent victims.

On with reading threads of interest until I am ready to question and post. This PMF is the closest I've come to any social media type experience. Tell me, is it dangerous ?

Monday 8:40 pm

It's kinda quiet here now at Rocky Neck. That wild group of vans finally pulled out. All except the Nomers who are still a few sites down. I think I can still hear their boom-box though.

We included Sunday and Monday night here. Tuesday we head on to visit friends that are north of New Philadelphia.

We had grilled haddock at Flanders Sunday evening. Yum. Today we went to Bluff Point SP (about 17mi) and had a very pleasant 4 mi walk. On our way back to Rocky Neck we stopped in Niantic at Skipper's for a sandwich and some fried clams. Pretty good. We survived a tough hike at Rickets Glen and the heavy rain last Saturday. We are not sure we will survive the fried fish! ---KenA
