Hello all,

I bought one of the CRL slider windows from DK Hardware (https://www.dkhardware.com/universa...ith-2-1-4-trim-ring-vw8369-product-26054.html) and was hoping to install it this weekend. However, when I took it out of the box and inspected it, I noticed that the locking mechanism is not really functional. The plastic handle seems very cheap/flimsy and with a bit of force you can easily pop it over the little edge that is supposed to lock it in the closed position. I have to admit, this is a bit concerning as it seems that the window could be opened from outside once it is installed with relatively little effort.

I'm wondering if any of you have had similar observations, and if so, is there anything you would recommend as a back-up lock? For instance, I considered the potential for something like this (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00K7IGKV8/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=I3E1VNNMLLJ44N&colid=2548Q15IKSBP9), but that probably wouldn't be compatible with this style of window. I’m happy with the product otherwise and am hoping to keep the build progress moving along steadily, but don’t want to overlook a safety issue.

Thanks in advance for your input!

Cheers,
HD & Cherry

Sliding windows and doors all get a stick (or two) that hold them closed and in some cases in my house prevent the window from opening more than a few inches for air at night. Can that supplement the crappy catch. Lots of camper stuff is very poor quality to allow it to be bought and the resulting camper to be sold for a huge profit.
Or add this horse guard and be sure no one can get in:
