I topped off my coolant today, and noticed the gasket in the cap is disintegrating. See picture.

I don't recall noticing this a few months ago, last time I topped off.

Haven't looked at getting it replaced yet, but wonder if anyone has insight into whether I should be concerned with this in a big way.

Will be in Tucson next week, hoping I can get a replacement but not looking forward to paying what I fear will be a high price for a plastic cap!

So is it the o-ring or the red crust?
If you didn't know that cap is also the radiator cap, when hot it's under pressure, so if if fails I would think you would have steam leaking and coolant loss.

Agree. It looks fine to my eye. Just clean off the dried coolant crust, and good to go.

Ahhhh... I see what you mean.

It does look like coolant crust. Engine is hot now, but before I drive tomorrow, I'll open it up and remove the crusty, double check the gasket.
