He was loading framed paintings into his 136" high top Ducato.

Me: what model year is your van?
He: it is 5 years old.
Me: have you had any problems with it?
He: no, not any problems.
Me: I have bought one in the U.S. I love it.
He: it is a van. I love music and women.
Me: I love music, but not women.

Good laugh.

On a more serious note, I have been eagle-eying every Ducato-Boxer-Jumper I see. Other than accident damage, I have seen rust on 3, all in the same place: the rear attachment for the slider bar. I'm guessing there is vibration there that wears off the galvanizing.

Yes, several. There is a crease along the side at our roofline, then an identically shaped roofline farther up. Rather tasteful, actually. I have a couple of photos, but for reasons I don't understand, photobucket is refusing to upload.

I also notice that Ducatos have the magnetic holders for the back doors. The side magnet is on the bumper, so they are low down, not high like Mercedes.

Mercedes clearly has the market for people haulers. In fact they are pushing out the bigger buses. We finally learned that regular bus stations in Poland are dead, but minibuses are thriving. Small business at its best. Except even new-looking Sprinters are rusting.
