Ive seen the windows many buy and they do look very nice. But arent cheap. Has anyone successfully used cheaper options. Is it possible to use a more "universal" fit window instead of the ones specific to the Promaster?

Yes it is. Google is your friend!
Yea im basically addicted to google and searching past posts on here at this point. Really my lingering questions were this, finding a 13 gallon black tank for not a fortune and...well...im just starting to dive into the solar & electrical system research. LOTS to read yet. Good thing I have a long time before this project starts. This forum is invaluable.

Hi,
CRL makes a window that is custom made for the promaster and matches the factory glass look (basically no visible frame). These are pricey and they don't ship UPS, so you pay truck freight, which is not cheap.

When I started my conversion I was having trouble figuring out what to do for the windows, and then read KOVs experience flat windows working OK on the very shallow curvature of the PM side panels and decided to go that way.

I used the CRL universal non-countoured windows which ended up fitting well. Much lower price and the ship UPS.
Have to say I like the look of the framless windows a bit better, but no $1.5k better :)

DK Hardware and CarID sell the CRL windows.

I've since added a window to the sliding door, which helps a lot with the blind spot you get in some traffic situations with no window in the sliding door.

RD & I bought s from a place called http://www.tristatesurplusllc.com in Michigan. Their prices were very reasonable and they gave a shipping discount if you bought multiple items. Their stock changes all the time so you never know what they will have.
