Started my PM this morning the change oil required message displayed across the dash. Weird, because my new oil only has 1500 miles on it surely the oil additive package is not yet depleted. Is this message based on engine hours? Did I not reset my oil change monitoring system properly? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You did not reset the service engine mileage at the time you changed the oil. I don't remember the page but it is in the manual (RTFM) and is accessed with the menu option on the keypad to the left of the steering wheel or on your radio if you have the UC5 perhaps? I don't. I did it, took two tries and confirmed the setting which went up to 18,345 or some odd number from 12,657. That is how you tell if you did it and it reset.

This how you do it with the gasser

Resetting oil change light
* "Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change
indicator system. The “Change Engine Oil” message will
display in the EVIC display. The engine oil change
indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate, dependent
 upon your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each
time you turn the ignition switch to the ON/RUN
position. To turn off the message temporarily, press and
release the MODE button. To reset the oil change indicator
system (after performing the scheduled maintenance),
 refer to the following procedure.
 1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (do not
 start the engine).
 2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly, three times
 within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF/LOCK position.
NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure."

Thanks KOV, same process for a diesel. Now you won't need to RTFM.
