The metal 'erector set' material, what is the name of this metal?
We are to emulate MsNomer and make out cabinet out of this or something like
it and then face it with something.
I was thinking it is unistrut but I'm not positive.
I'm also wondering if it can be had in aluminum.

The material you linked to sure looks nice.
What I saw though was 4 channel square tubes....would look
great all on its own! But I think we'll face it with another material, hopefully
composite (don't want termites in the rig

It certainly is not, but it sure is fun to work with. And extremely solid. The majority of my build has been with 8020. I'd use it again if I had to do it over.

Sorry, you are correct. She simply used L shaped punched galv angle - bolted it together. Much less costly and pretty much available at any big box home store but probably a lot cheaper at a steel specialist. MsNomer will inform us of the details as soon as she finds wifi, I'm sure

The 8020 is nice stuff tho.

Very interesting.
We're going for a euro-industrial build and the 8020 stuff faced with plexiglass
would look sheeeeeeeeekkkkk
Really, we spend so much on all the electrical build only to hide it behind a facade!
Well I'd have it visible but there is the she-boss who will make that decision.
The only have-to is to keep it so the cat doesn't gt BBQ'ed or I fall into it after
a vodka or two.
But again the 8020 just flat out looks sharp!

Slotted Angle . Shop shelves , work vans , etc. Got the last batch from Zoro https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-slotted-angle-kit-12-ft-l-5-steel-pk5-sa-21205/i/G2195803/ . That kit is 14 gage . And a bench kit is 12 gage https://www.zoro.com/value-brand-slotted-angle-kit-12-ft-l-3-in-w-sa-31205/i/G2624745/ . Home Box will have light duty and limited choice . Hardware salvage joints may have some too . 5/16 carriage bolts fit great in the oval holes .

I used slotted angle from a salvage yard. Perhaps heavier even then 14 gauge. I strongly suggest you use 8020 instead.

Looking forward to a "industrial" version of mine. That really will be cool.
