I flipped up the seats yesterday to load up for the gig and - what's that red thing? Bungee cords?

That are elastic bands used to attach the folded seats to the front heasrest rods.

From european manual
"N.B. There are bands on the rear seats under the cushion to attach the folded seat to the front seat head restrain rods"

Thanks for that. As far as I can tell, no mention of it in the 414 pages of the US manual.
