I suspect the PM diesel is not part of it. It does get confusing, as the 3.0L EcoDiesel is the V-6 engine. However, I believe the 3.0L V6 and our 3.0L I4 are both from Volto Motori (VM), engine supplier for FIAT.

I do love my diesel, and while I don't worry about problems now, I do worry about problems in 10 years, trying to get repairs on an oddball orphaned engine.

I hope you're right. The last thing I want is a fix on what works flawlessly. I too wonder about service down the road with such a small total population of I 4's

My numbers show Jeep had sold 9761 diesels in those 3 years.

I didn't realized that Ram sold that many diesel 1500s.

VM Motori is since end of 2013 100% owned by FCA.
Before it had 50% and the other 50% was owned by GM.

The Promaster F1C diesel engine is from FPT Industrial, that is part of CNH Industrial (Case New Holland industrial).
CNH Industrial is the result of a demerge from Fiat group that rook place in 2011/2012.

The same F1C engine is used in Mitsubishi Fuso Canter in U.S.A., known as 4P10 engine.

Since last year the F1C is not used in Fiat Ducato, replaced by a more powerful version of the smaller F1A engine (same family, but different injectors, EGR, turbocharger, ...). F1C is still used by IVECO (part of CNH Industrial) for the Daily, military vehicles (IVECO LMV and others) plus in stationary applications.
There is also a maritime version named S30.

Don't forget Germany filed suit against Fiat in the EU court for emission standards. I thought Germany was very lenient for the car companies. They had called all car manufacturers to the table and were told their cars do not meet standards and to quietly fix them. Of course Fiat was not there.
