Yep, it is ANOTHER recall for the 2014 Ram Promaster. It now seems that there is not only a problem with the accelerator, but also a problem with the brakes as well.

According to the NHTSA, 5,664 Promasters may have suffered damage to their brake hoses during production. What is especially embarrassing for Ram is that the vehicles affected in this recall campaign were manufactured at the same time as the 9,655 vans affected in the previous recall. In other words, the same vans that got recalled the first time could be recalled a second time. That means you could have been driving around a van with a faulty accelerator and faulty brakes.

This is really making me rethink my plans to buy a Promaster. Who knows what else is wrong with them.

Early-production glitches. "It happens". The only difference now is that because of NHTSA pressure, they are very anxious to get glitches fixed as soon as they appear, instead of waiting years (*cough* GM ignition switches ...)

I had my Honda Odyssey, which is getting up there in age, in for a safety recall fix yesterday. It was possible for airbag to deploy without an accident. Stuff like this happens. Would not keep me from buying any vehicle. The chances of most safety recalls actually happening are fairly small anyway. I'm glad they are identified and fixed, but I'm not going to lose sleep over most of them.

My PM 1500 is in the service right now. Rear suspension squealing like crazy, and breaks squealing.

I took load down to new york from chicago on the way there I was getting 21.6mp carrying 1300lb in the back. Although on the way back coming empty I was only getting 15mpg, until I started hearing my breaks squeal even without me breaking, so i tapped the break and it stopped. and it would squeal every now and then without my breaking.

whats it telling me that the breaks werent letting go all the way and it couldve affected my mpg.

Also it probably messed up my break pads and rotors.

Now it might be in there for a week or so. That is a lost revenue for me.

I bought a brand new car for a reason so I wouldn't have to deal with anything breaking anytime soon.

I think I will be calling Chrysler and asking them to compensate for lost revenue.

Car makers are always guilty of holding off on fixes where there aren't any agencys like the NHTSA in the mix. At least we know who to contact ;)

From what I've read that accelerator issue has been WAY blown out of proportion by people that don't read the facts of what happens there. Yes it can stick, but only under very limited circumstances. Besides that, the "problem" had already been found and the fix was instituted on the assembly line the day the news was released on it.

That 5664 number I'd bet is the first 5664 that were built, and the issue was one found in the assembly process that has long since been fixed in that process.

So the dealer called me saying the car is ready and that there is nothing wrong with the suspension. I told them to beat it and asked one of the mechanics to come on a ride with me.

After I took him on a ride they ordered new Shocks. They thought I'd be willing to eat their bs and keep driving with a squealing ass suspension.

They did clean the breaks, no squealing heard anymore. Although they still sound a bit weird to me.

Also when I bought it after signing everything and being ready to go I was told that the vehicle wasn't PDI and I have to wait till next day noon to get it. I asked why didn't they tell me that before I purchased the vehicle, they response was because it came up when they were taking it through the car wash they realized it wasn'd PDI'd.

Yesterday when I picked it up from the service at the same dealer I bought it from I asked them why didnt they put it through a car wash for me. They said it didnt fit in their car wash.

ummmm what the heck did they do to my vehicle in a first place?

I wish the dealer offered this option when I bought mine.

It is still available to you. Ask. And also call the number at that website. Sounds like your dealer isn't up to speed.

With a little luck, you won't need to see them much. Is there another Ram dealer nearby?

True that. And yes there is 2 more withing 10 mile radius.

Also check out the last post on page 1. What do you think really happened to my PM when they said they needed to PDI the thing?

Keep the weight in it! How are you calculating this? Is the parking brake free?(off)

As for the dirty van the dealer should not lie and tell the truth and say something
like this" We are very sorry about the dirty van as we are very busy doing warranty
work and have other people waiting"

yea the big problem with the recalls is the auto media click baiting. Just look at the lead paragraph from Autoblog:

It's barely been a year since Chrysler brought the Fiat Ducato over to these United States as the Ram Promaster, but already it's being subjected to its second recall – both of them revolving around essential controls that are critical to the vehicle's operation
Its that implied superiority that makes me sick... Oh and FCA says less than 2% of vehciles on the road will actually need the repair...

I just got a recall notice on both pm. They said it was about electrical problems with water getting in from wheel well or drivers side floor. They said we do not have a fix yet but will notify when they do.
