I have one 100Ah AGM battery in the van. It is approaching a year old and has actually been in use about half that time. I want to add another identical battery in parallel, but I read that batteries in parallel must also be the same age. How strict is this age requirement?

Ms,

I did exactly what you describe about a month ago. Same battery, same capacity, same store....

I used Harbor Freight toolboxes to encase each battery because they allowed me to add connectors and circuit breakers to the case.

It worked perfectly on our recent 3 week, 33000 mile trip south. Microwave that faltered with one battery worked well and everything else was fine. When I disconnect the batteries to test, each has the same voltage.

Mine is also a 100ah AGM

Go for it!

Ed
