2022 Promaster Rear Brake Pads 68603420AA - No Inventory Available

Hello, this is my first post. Thanks for having me.

A couple of you have posted regarding this topic and I wanted to share what I have learned and see if there are any other options or additional information.

I operate a fleet of twenty-five 2022 Promaster 3500's. The rear brakes have an electric actuated parking brake and the only pad available for this year is 68603420AA. There are plenty of options for prior years but earlier pads WILL NOT fit the 2022's and there is NO aftermarket available at this time. This is confirmed by Stellantis National Fleet/Parts representatives, my dealer, and local shops and parts stores.

There were approximately 60,000 Promasters produced in 2022 and they all use this same brake pad. There are no pads available in the US as of 5/22/2023.

The rear brakes are wearing out prematurely on many of these vans at 25k-40k miles.

It has been VERY difficult to get information from Stellantis or my local dealer in Northern California. After squeezing them hard for a delivery date they are now saying June 12 at the earliest. Any later than this will jeopardize my business.

I have attached some photos of the pads for reference. These pads were removed from a van with 34k miles and have about 2mm life left.

This whole situation is totally unacceptable. Stellantis is the fourth largest automaker in the world and they cannot source parts for their own vans that are in use and essential for our businesses.

If you have any other info please let me know.

I searched google real quick and found a couple websites that show them in stock. Not sure if you actually wanted to buy some or for a discussion on the greater backorder issue.|
If you want to order some here are the 2 shops that I found right away:
Moparpartsplus and store.mopar.com are showing them in stock

Many of the online retailers show the part...including Jegs. But none have inventory.

Thanks...anything earlier than 2022 is business as usual with lots of aftermarket pads available. Something is definitely amiss with the 2022's

Here is the shape of the 2022 pad

Sorry to hear that & what a ridiculous World we live in now.

I actually “re-pad” the pads on my airplanes, but those are held into place with rivets.

I am wondering if there are any specialty shops around that will take your old pads & custom “re-pad” them?

I have many vintage vehicles and remember those days of riveted pads being re-lined. I've had this discussion with some old-timers as well. No service like this available for bonded pads to my knowledge and would be a huge liability concern for a fleet owner with a modern vehicle. The sensor wire is embedded in the pad as well. Thanks much

I will pay you $100 over the purchase price + shipping if you can get your hands on a set. The second link shows unavailable when I pull it up.

I called mopar parts plus and they said they are on backorder.
I placed an order on from the 2nd link. I'll let you know if it goes through. 😆

Thanks much...just to clarify my offer. Must be factory fresh Mopar part number 68203420AA. No aftermarket that says it fits a 2022 but really doesn't. One set must be in my hands before my dealer gets inventory.

Good luck...I'm happy to pay the $100 if you actually find a set.

I see you have a 2023...does it use the same electric actuated rear parking brake and part number for the pads? I have not been able to confirm.

Yea I do have an electric parking brake, and when I looked it up it did show the same p# for brake pads as what we are talking about here. That is why I've been keeping an eye on the shortage.

I won't hold you to your offer, I'm sure I can find a good home for these pads or hold them till I need them. Assuming they actually do have them 😀. I should know in the next day or 2 and will let you know either way.
I just talked to Mopar Canada. No stock at all on that part number. He said if I order he would hope to have them in a month.

@DCAL ..... Does your fleet all have push to start fobs ?
I have seen manufactures go "bare bones basic" on fleet vehicles before .

The ignition is a keyless button...no key in the ignition. My vans have the opposite problem of bare bones. Way too many unnecessary features for a Fleet vehicle. Lots of electronic issues as others have described. Had one van down for 6 months waiting for a Body Control Module. Glitchy dash/sensor errors...just took one in today for airbag system warning. Windshields cost $1300 to replace because of the lane/fcw sensor. Electric parking brake... I have some earlier Promasters and all my Transits are much simpler.

A smart parts person could make a pretty penny buying and reselling parts.

on a separate note,
@DCAL maybe dm @RamCares and see if they can speed up the time line on parts.
